The news of Blue and Ethan's engagement did not take long to be spread widely across Edenbrook in a matter of hours.

It led from one staff overhearing the group of friends congratulating the couple while walking past the lounge, to another staff noticing the beautiful shiny new pink morganite on Blue's ring finger. It did not help that the both of them were practically glowing with happiness, and looked loved up more than they usually were.

The hospital was buzzing with gossips and looks, most happy for the two of them while there were inevitably the minority that did not have much nice things to say. Not that it really affected Blue and Ethan, they have been through so much worse to get where they were together right now.

If anything, they were all excited for the big wedding of Edenbrook's 'power couple' if the news was indeed true.

Blue and Ethan walked into the diagnostics office together, having passed by all the curious and wondering looks of the nurses and doctors, even patients. Blue had made no effort to hide the ring nor the bright smile on her face, proud to be engaged to the man walking next to her.

Ethan on the other hand, could not decipher the plethora of emotions that engulfed him as he walked next to Blue, fully knowing that everyone was wondering if the prickly 'Dr. Terminator' had really proposed, while Blue made no show of hiding anything.

Just over half a year ago, the both of them had been constantly hiding their affection and need for each other from everyone else, relying on stolen kisses and discreet touches to get through the day when they were in the hospital. To think of how far they had come, not having a single care in the world about what others thought of them, being unapologetically in love, filled Ethan with a sense of euphoria.

As the glass doors of the office hissed opened and the couple stepped in, the both of them were shocked by a party popper going off, confetti trickling down on them at once.

"What the hell." Ethan let out in surprise as he turned to the side to see the culprit laughing his ass off at the stunned look on the couple's faces, especially Ethan's.

"You should have... you should have seen your face!" Tobias managed out between uncontrollable laughter and Ethan immediately rolled his eyes with an exasperated sigh when he realized his best friend was just pulling another one of his usual antics.

"What was the need to pop this at us first thing in the morning, Carrick?" Blue asked, her hands on her hips though the amusement was evident on her face.

"Well, I tried to talk him out of it." Harper spoke up, making Blue and Ethan realize that the neurosurgeon was there too in the office, sitting at the conference table and watching the prank Tobias has pulled on them. "But you know him, he never listens."

"Just wanted to congratulate you guys on the good news." Tobias grinned, genuine happiness evident in the midst of the playfulness on his face. He gestured to Blue's left hand beckoning, and she immediately extended it out to show him with a proud smile on her face that had Ethan's stomach fluttering with butterflies. Tobias took a look before giving Ethan's back a firm pat. "You did great, buddy. I have to admit, a part of me didn't think you'd pull through, but you proved me wrong."

"Wait, you knew this too?" Blue asked in surprise.

"He did." Ethan answered with a smile. "In fact, he actually encouraged me and helped me be less subtle with my strange behavior while trying to hide my plans from you."
