The Back Bay apartment buzzed with commotion, paired with the occasional pitter-pattering of paws against the tiled floor.
The scent of rose and coconut wafted through the air from the scented candles that were lit up, the early evening Boston chill already seeping through the open balcony doors.
"It doesn't have to be perfect, it looks fine." Ethan mumbled as his wife fussed over his hair, combing through his locks with gel, not without styling a single strand to fall perfectly slightly past his eyebrows.
"Well, it has to be perfect." Blue responded, smiling slightly when she was satisfied with her work, running her fingers down Ethan's cheekbones, holding his face in her hands as she observed him.
"I think some eyeshadow, mascara and blush will elevate your features." she mused jokingly, stifling her laughter when she watched her husband roll his eyes.
"If I had known you were going to fuss over me like this, I would have just agreed to my publicist insisting on a stylist for this event." Ethan said playfully.
"As if." Blue scoffed in response, smoothening her fingertips over his neat beard, the scratch of the coarse hair against her skin igniting the faintest pool of desire. "You would much rather have me do it then some other stylist who would actually put makeup on you."
"Can't disagree with you on that." Ethan chuckled, turning his head to kiss the inside of her wrist.
"Good." Blue smiled, pulling away slightly to tighten the tie he was wearing slightly. "You look incredible."
He really did with his tall frame clad in a sleek navy suit with a light blue shirt and royal blue tie under, the colour and fit bringing out the brilliance of his aquamarines. The aura of his look somewhat similar to the colour of his book cover, the second volume of his medical book series, the Diagnostics Principles.
Blue had taken upon herself to pick out his look for book launch, going through all of the suits he owned, all his ties, shoes and even accessories, before deciding on the blue ensemble. It was a rather witty choice, even Ethan would admit, a creative thought that he felt even a professional stylist may not have thought about. However, it was his Rookie, and he knew better than not to expect pleasant surprises from her many talents.
"Thanks to you." he said, earning another smile from her as she glanced down to look at his t-shirt that she was wearing, coming down to her knees that it almost looked like a dress on her. Her hair was up in a few loose rollers, her make-up not nearly done.
Still, she was the most beautiful woman in his eyes.
"I should get ready too." Blue mumbled to herself, and Ethan watched her with a small smile as she hurried back into their walk-in wardrobe to get changed as well.
Wearing his watch and wedding ring, Ethan walked out to the living room, chuckling slightly at the clingy puppy that followed him everywhere he went. He reached down to take Jenner into his arms, settling on the couch to spend some time with him while waiting for his wife to finish getting ready.
It was finally the day of his second book launch, and it was being held as a grand affair in Edenbrook itself. Media from all over the country, and esteemed medical royalties were set to be attending the event. Ethan was never one for such publicity, even his first book launch was not nearly as extravagant. However, he knew that while he was not one bit a fan of it, the publicity was still important not just for Edenbrook but for all the topics discussed in his book.
