It was Autumn of the year 1536 when the Naguchi force arrived at Lake Inawashiro.
It was already close to sundown when Ryogetsu arrived, and he could smell rice cooking over fires. Ryogetsu marvelled at how far the camp stretched. There were tents set up as far as the eye could see. Horses grazed in makeshift stables. Samurai were scattered across the camp dressed in full armour, or barely wearing anything at all. Banners were hoisted high on wooden poles, dividing the camp into three sections. On the first banner was an orange sun with five tendrils, the Naguchi family crest. The second banner was the familiar ring of eight feathers representing the Inoue clan. The third one, however, was new to Ryogetsu. The banner was purple. Its emblem was that of a white snake eating itself. Just staring at it made Ryogetsu uncomfortable. He could not help but feel that the family crest was a bit ominous.
