Narrative

She had missed him.

He had missed her.

It was only a matter of time before they realized it. Rory didn't care about him leaving anymore, she just wanted to hold him.

He wanted to do the same. Be in the comfort of her warmth. Give her soft kisses while she falls asleep.

That's what they did right now. Laying in bed Rorys breaths were soft as Daryl had his arms around her. He placed soft kisses on her neck so often, watching as she smiled before settling again.

He stared at the wall in front of them, the playpen holding the twins in his peripheral vision. Soon tiredness set in, before he fell asleep he placed one last kiss on Rorys neck.

Burying his face in her hair, he finally fell asleep.

Upon waking up, they all rushed to pack. They were 'leaving'. When in reality they were gearing up for the Governor.

Rory would being going with Hershel, Beth and Carl who would be a little ways into the woods with Judy and the Twins.

She quickly shoved clothes into a bag, if there wasn't much damage to the prison they would stay there. But incase, they needed to be ready to get back on the road.

While packing, she sang to herself. Little bits and parts of songs she could remember.

"Rory! You almost done!"

"Yeah, I am." She zipped the bag up, throwing it over her shoulders. She made sure she had everything before leaving the cell, meeting Rick at the top. She smiled to Judy, booping her on the nose.

"The twins are ready."

"Ok," she nodded, taking Judy from his hands. Walking down the stairs she waved to Michonne who stopped Rick to talk to him.

"Trade off?" Rory asked Beth who held Evie. Beth nodded, taking the younger baby giving the older one to her mother.

"Mama." She clapped her hands together. "No! No! No!" She screamed. No was her new favorite word right now. Daryl began to walk over.

"Dada." Daryl held Ellie who gripped at his leather, liking the feeling on her fingers.

"Be safe." He muttered, handing her off to Carl. Who wasn't happy about this but wasn't about to take it out on his cousin.

"You too." She leaned up, giving him a small kiss on the cheek.

"Come, on we gotta go." Hershel said, Daryl gave Evie a quick kiss on the head before Rory was pulled away from him.

"Y'all got your gun, your knife?" Rory asked, looking at them.

"Yeah, I think we're all set. You got the baby stuff?" Beth answered then asked.

"Yup." She nods, getting ready to leave.

Sitting against the abandoned car, Rory played with a piece of loose sting nervously. The note they had received said that they would be here soon.

Like clockwork she could hear the sounds of multiple vehicles coming down the prison road. Then multiple explosions and loud gunshots.

"Oh, I'm so nervous." Her whole family was back there, risking their lives. She fiddled with her fingers and looked over the car's hood.

"They'll be fine. They got the plan down." Beth reassured her. Nodding she got back in her place, waiting for the walkie-talkie call.

It felt like forever, the silence was loud and almost suffocating. She was waiting for the next part of the plan. The smoke bombs in the tombs.

Loud alarms rang throughout the air.

Shouting could be heard as they ran out and then rounds of gunshots.

"I should be there." Rory shook her head, ignoring Carl. He had been defiant lately.

Just like they came, they left.

"Alright, it's all good." Rick's voice came through the walkie-talkie. Rory smiled softly at the sound of his voice, getting up she got ready to pack up the twins.

Stopping when she heard steps on the forest ground. Looking she seen a boy no older then 16. He looked scared.

Carl came out from the car, pointing the gun at him.

"Whoa, whoa, don't shoot." He placed the barrel of his gun down and his free hand up.

"Drop the weapon, son." Hershel cocked his gun, shielded Rory and Beth the best he could.

"Sure." He pointed the butt towards Carl, getting ready to hand it over. "Here, take it."

Carl just stood there, looking at him before pulling the trigger. The boy dropped dead and Rory gasped.

The walk back to the building was quiet. Getting inside, she immediately looked for Daryl. Tears brimmed her eyes.

"Hey." Rick smiled, leaning down to give Judy a kiss who was in Beths arms. Rory watched as Rick kneeled down and hug his son.

"Dad, I'm coming to Woodbury." Rick sighed and looked down.

"Carl."

"Dad, I did my job out there. Just like all of you."

"You shot a boy." Rory said.

"I took out one of his soldiers." He retorted.

"One of his soldiers? A kid running away? He stumbled across us." Hershel looked between Carl and Rick.

"No, he drew on us."

"I'm sorry you had to do that." Rick patted his shoulder.

"It's what I was there for."

"Here, I'll take them." Rory looked to Beth. "They look tired."

"Thank you so much, Beth. You're the best." She handed them off, giving the girl a sweet smile.

"I'm going with you." Carl followed behind Beth to the cells. Rory looked behind her and made eye contact with Daryl.

"That kid was scared. He was handing his gun over."

"He said he drew."

"Rick, the kid was only a couple of years older then Carl, couldn't be older then 16. He was handing his gun over, the barrel was pointed at his chest. He told Carl to take it and he shot him." Rory ranted.

This was a innocent boy, doing what the Governor had told him.

"There is no justifying this as self defense." She shook her head. Walking away, her feet took her to the person she wanted to see.

"Hey. Ya ok?" Nodding, she wrapped her arms around his waist.

"Fucking perfect." She buried her head in his chest. "Are you ok." His chest rumbled with a response.

"We're going back to Woodbury."

"I know. I'm going with."

"You sure that's a good idea?" He didn't want her to go, but ultimately it wasn't up to him. It was up to her.

"Yeah, I got this. Plus, I got you to protect me." She lifted her head, giving him a smile.

"You gonna ride with me?"

"Of course I am! I haven't been on in so long." Drawing out the 'o' in so she giggled towards the end.

"Daryl, Rory." Rick called them over. "Let's get ready."
