narrative

hershel silently sewed up michonnes wound. carl stood across the room, keeping watch on the girl.

"thank you." she told hershel, keeping her eyes on carl.

"how do you know we can trust her?" oscar asked from inside the cell block.

"this is maggie, glenn and rory. why are we even debating this?" beth pushed herself off the steps.

"we ain't, i'll go after them myself." daryl said, looking behind him seeing the twins on the ground playing with some plastic cups.

"well, this place sounds pretty secure. you can't go alone."

"i'll go." beth volunteered herself, not liking that her sister or rory were in danger.

"me, too." axel spoke up.

"i'm in." oscar nodded.

rick sighed, looking down and nodding.

"i got the flash bangs, and i got the tear gas." daryl opened the back of carols car, putting the bag of supplies into it. "you never know what you're gonna need." he picked up his leather vest, putting it on. the angel wings sitting on his back.

"hey, don't you worry about your old man. i'm gonna keep an eye on him." daryl told carl as he walked up and threw a bag in the back.

"not my dad i'm worried about, it's rory." he confessed.

"i'm gonna bring her back too." he patted him on the back and walked away. carl following shortly after.

beth opened the gate, michonne walking up behind her. "wasn't this place over run?"

"it was." she turned to her.

"and you cleared it out by yourselves? just the few of you?"

"there were others." michonne didn't say anything and let the girl walk away.

"carl." rick handed off his stuff to oscar, taking carl to talk to him. he told him if something went wrong to keep the people safe, his cousins and sister.

"i will." carl nodded. rick looked down before starting to walk away. "daryl's been calling her ass kicker."

"ass kicker?" rick question with a little disbelief, laughing at the little nickname. "has he, now?" carl nodded.

"i've been thinking, what should we really call her?"

"what do you have?" rick leaned against the wall.

"remember my third grade teacher, mrs.mueller?"

"of course."

"her first name was judith, do you think that's a good name?"

"i think that's— that's a fine name." carl smiled and looked down a little. "judith it is." rick wrapped his arm around carls shoulder, walking back to the group.

"stay safe." daryl walked up to carol, who was holding judith.

"nine lives remember." she chuckled a bit.

"bring them back." hershel told rick. he nodded opening the car door, getting in with daryl, oscar, and michonne. beth wanted to go, but decided it would be better to stay back and help out around the prison. axel also stayed back, they needed room to bring people back.

glenn fought against his restraints, stopping when merle walked in with a walker.

"all righty, i want you to imagine how i felt fighting my way off the roof. one hand, losing blood, walkers chomping at me every step of the way." he moved in further, the walker inches away from glenns face.
