It was the next day and again I was the first on of the kids awake, I walked out to the common area and saw mom and dad cutting and packing some food so I sat to talk to them
"Mom.....dad can I ask you something?" I asked nervously
"Of course, what troubles you?" Mom asked as they both gave me their full attention
"How do you know when you've met your mate, how do you know the person you're with is meant by Eywa?" They looked surprised
"Why do you ask such things?" Mom asked
"Never mind just forget I said anything" I said feeling embarrassed
"No sweetie I was just wondering but if you're not comfortable telling us that's fine" dad said
"Well when I met your father I wanted to kill him, but when I got to know him everything changed, everytime I saw him I knew Eywa had brought him to me, I knew he was the one I'd spend my life with" mom said as they smiled at eachother
"Thank you mom, I'm going to head out for the day to help......the clan, ya the clan, I'll be back to help will dinner later" I said quickly as I made my way out of the pod
I walked far down the beach until it was just me, I wiggled my feet down into the sand and felt the warm sun beam on my skin as the breeze blew through my hair
I felt free, I started swaying my tail then I felt someone pull hard on it, snapping me out of my peaceful mode
"OOWWWWW" I yelped in pain
I looked behind me and it was some Metkayina boys around my age
"Why did you do that?"
"Because you're a freak, I mean look at you, weak arms little baby tail, you're hideous" one of them said making them all laugh at me
I felt weak and small, dad said to not make trouble so I didn't know what to do
They started pushing me around as they made a circle
"Leave me alone" I yelled just wanting the pain to stop
That's when someone took a swing and punched me right in the eye, which triggered the others to hit me, it lasted a while until the commotion caught the attention of others
I looked and saw Neteyam push his way through and push the others away
"Back up, leave her alone.....now" he said scowling at them
They backed up and eventually left
"Neteyam *gasp* it hurts" I said crying
"Oh god what have they done to you baby sis" he said as he looked over me
He picked me up because I felt too weak, he brought me back to our pod and laid me down infront of the family
"Oh my sweet girl what happened?" Mom asked as she came to my side
"I didn't do anything, some boys just picked on me and started to hit me, dad said not to cause trouble so I didn't do anything" I said tired
"Oh baby, I'm sorry just rest, we will clean you up" dad said
Tuk came up behind me and rested my head on her lap, as she stroked my hair making me feeling better
The whole family began to clean me up as I fell asleep
Once I woke up the sun was low in the sky, i was still in Tuks lap and Neteyam was holding my hand
I slowly sat up and yawned
"How bad do I look?" I asked
"You look fine" Tuk smiled
"Tell me the truth please" I said looking at Neteyam
"You have a black eye, a few cuts on your face and over your body, a lot of bruises and a sprained tail"
I looked back at my tail and saw it had a splint on it
I sigh upset, why couldn't I just be like everyone else
"Can we go for a walk, it might help me get some cool air" I asked as I tried to stand
"Of course, come on Tuk" Neteyam said as he helped me stand up
We walked along the beach when remembered that I'm suppose to be meeting Ao'nung soon
Neteyam and Tuk held my hand as we walked just make sure I was okay
"Thank you for saving me earlier" I said to Neteyam
"Of course anything for my little sis" he smiled
That's when I saw Ao'nung sitting further down the beach in our spot
"I have someone I need to meet, you guys can go home if you want, I promise I'll be okay"
"Are you sure sis" Tuk asked concerned
"Yes cutie I'll be fine, go have dinner, I'll be home soon" I said as I hugged them before they left
Once they walked away I started to make my way to Ao'nung
I slowly got there and he looked up at me excited but once he looked at me his smile faded and he jumped to his feet
"My Eywa what happened to you?" He asked as he looked over me gently touching my bruises
"A few boys fought me, they said I was a freak, they said I was hideous, then they did this to me" I said as my bottom lip quivered
"Come sit my beauty" he said as he sat me in his lap and I laid my head against his chest
"Don't listen to them, you're beautiful and unique......who did this to you do you recognize who they were?" He asked as he rubbed my waist
"I don't know who they were"
