After spending the day with Ao'nung I went back to my pod with the rest of my family and I felt a bit better about being here
Ao'nung POV🐠~
Y/n was unlike any other, she made me feel calm which I knew was rare for me, I only really hung around Rotxo and Tsireya, I had a hard time being nice to others and I don't know why, but when I saw her today I didn't feel anger, I just felt happiness around her
I got back to my Marui Pod to see mother and father sitting around with Tsireya
"Where have you been?" Mother asked, I've never really had the best relationship with her, I felt so much pressure from her being the oldest child
"Out with one of the Sully kids" I said sitting down
"You are not to be friends with those demon children, you are only to teach them our ways nothing more" mother said full of anger
"She is not a demon child, she is nice to me" I saw father gave me a sympathetic look, I never understood their relationship
"I am your mother and you will listen to me, that's final"
I got up and went to my part of the home, she made me feel so hopeless sometimes, finally a girl has entered my life that's made me feel happy and I'm not allowed to even be friends with her
Y/n POV🌱~
"How was exploring?" Neteyam asked
"It was wonderful brother! The clan leaders son Ao'nung hung out with me and showed me some swimming techniques! It was fun" I said excited
"I'm glad you made a friend sweetie!" Mom said
I knew this was hard on her the most, of course we all missed the forest, our home, but I could sense how upset she was but I didn't know how to help
Then an idea came to mind, I walked over to Tuk and kneeled down by her
"Hey Tuk, wanna go down to the beach and collect some shells for mom and make her a necklace to cheer her up?"
"Oh yes I'd love to come on!!!" She said excited grabbing my hand and dragging be out of the pod
"We'll be back soon!" I yelled back to the others
The edge of the water glowed and it was beautiful
"Okay stay close and try to find the prettiest shells!" I said to her
"Okay sis!"
We both wandered around the shore find shells and bringing them back to a pile higher up the beach so we could sort through them after and pick the best ones
That's when I saw the prettiest shell further in the water, I walked in and kneeled down to get it, I almost reached it when something popped out of the water infront of me scaring me, until I realized it was Ao'nung
"What are you doing out so late I thought you went back to your pod?" He asked, he seemed upset
"Me and Tuk are collecting shells to make a necklace for my mom!"
"Why?"
"She upset, she misses home too and I wanted to cheer her up!" I said smiling
"You have a kind heart" he said but there was still that sadness in his voice
"Are you okay?" I asked as I put my hand on his shoulder
"I'm fine you don't need to worry" he said about to swim away but I held onto his shoulder
"Hey you can talk to me you know" I said worried
"Thanks, but maybe another time, I'll see you later" and he was off under the water again
It left me with an uneasy feeling, I didn't like seeing him upset, maybe I could cheer him up tomorrow but for now I have to focus on mom
I got the shell that was under the water and brought it back to the pile that Tuk was sitting at
"Do you like him?" She asked making me blush
"I just met him Tuk, but he is nice to be around" I said quickly
After that we picked a few shells and found some thread and seaweed to make the necklace
"It's so pretty moms going to love it!" Tuk said excited
"Come Tuk it's late and we should give it to her now before she gets more upset" I said as we started to walk back
We got back and Neteyam, Lo'ak and Kiri were gone to bed
"Where have you girls been?" Dad asked
"We were making this for you mom!" Tuk said as she ran over to her and gave her the necklace
"It's beautiful, thank you my amazing daughters" she said smiling, she gave Tuk and kiss on the forehead then did the same to me
"Now you girls have a big day tomorrow, get some sleep" Dad said as he stood up
"Goodnight!" Tuk said running off to bed she always slept with Kiri
This place wasn't as big as our home in the first so Neteyam and Lo'ak slept in the same area, Kiri and Tuk slept together and Mom and dad slept together, there was a small space left by Neteyam so I made my bed there
Neteyam woke up and looked worried
"Are you okay?" He asked sleepy
"Can I sleep here, there's no where else to go"
"Of course" he moved over a bit to make more room allowing me to lay down
I loved all my siblings very much, Tuk was the sweetest little sister, and I always had the most fun with Loak, Kiri was my twin and we always had that connection but sometimes I felt jealous of her, but with Neteyam it was like he always understood me, he always picked up for me and made me feel safe he was like a second dad to me
"Goodnight baby sis" he whispered as he fell asleep
"Goodnight"
And with that I fell asleep feeling a bit at peace for once since the sky people came back
