so this was originally, on webnovel, a multiple-part chapter, because I write small chaps, but I think I'm just gonna bundle them together on here.

So, what do I wake up to in this strange and dark world?

Shadow people.

SHADOW PEOPLE!

literally bodies made of shadows with clothes over it.

Like victorian monsters.

Just mass' of black.

I'm not scared. Nope.

Save me, mommy.

My beautiful ruins turned into some sort of aristocratic palace. I miss my ruins. They felt safer. There are only a few...things around me, circling, as if I'm a curious commodity.

"...What...do we have...here?" A tall shadow in a tophat croaks.

Not scared, nope.

...I might have peed a little. Just a little. A drop. Not scared. Nope.

"...I...think it's a...child?" A distinctly feminine voice sounds.

"I can see, Andromeda. That's not what I meant...and you know it." Tophat says.

"Why are you...here...child?" A short and plump shadow asks.

"...Failed necromancy ritual."

"Ahhh, that'll do it."

"Welcome to hell, child."

She's...joking, right?

I'm too young to die!

Mommy!

"Y-y-y-y-your joking, right...?" I stuttered.

"Ara, joking? Possibly." The female-voiced shadow laughed.

"D-d-do you have a...n-name?"

"Valerian, Valerinan Coulmine, at your service."

"Antonio...Antonio Von Graves."

"Lovely name, dearie."

"I'm...the pope, ma'am."

"Ara, so young?"

"Goddess chosen." tophat said.

"And you participated in a necromancy ritual?"

"Yes...It went wrong. We...didn't mix the blood sacrifices, causing whatever happened...to happen."

"Hmm. Well, come along, dearie. Let's get you some...clothes, and see if we have food. We don't eat sadly, no mouths." She said, extending her hand out to me.

Fighting back shivers I took hold of her hand and got up off the suddenly appearing marble floor.

Valerian gripped my hand and tugged me off into the distance.

"I'm sure we can find something. An old room, maybe one with a bathroom! I am sure you'd like a bath?" I nodded.

"Good. Well, exploring we go! Onward, people! To the baths!"

And Valerian marched, I slowly followed, and tophat laughed before he also started marching, albeit goofily.

Valerian and tophat lead me to a very extravagant green door that I only opened after several minutes of prodding.

Gryffindor, I am not.
