Chapter 24

Deva and Sonakshi were surprised to see the package. Next morning Dev called Sona’s doctor and asked if this trip will be ok for Sona and she gave green signal. She said infact it will be great for her.

Dixit sisters and Elina took Sona out for special shopping for honeymoon and all of them helped her to pack bags.

Dev was shocked to see the amount of bags “I think we are going for 21 days not 1 year.” Sona smiled “I know but there will be cold, you know I am little sensitive to cold.”

Dev came near her and wrapped his hands around her waist “you don’t need to worry about cold baby. You have a permanent heater with you. Who needs so much cloths in honeymoon only a comfortable room is need infect a comfortable bed.”

Sona hit his chest “Dev tumi ekdom nirlajjo.” Dev learned Bengali by now as his wife has a habit to talk in Bengali he pulled her little more to his chest “I know I am shameless but I have right to be shameless with my wife in our honeymoon.”

Sona smiled and shook her head “Sorry to burst your bubble Mr. Dev Dixit. Kashmir is my dream destination, you know it is called paradise in earth and I am going to enjoy it. So be prepare for a good trip not at all staying in hotel room” and ran out to the room.

She came back for a moment and from door said “Dev we have to leave tomorrow morning so today I want a proper sleep. No naughty business.” Dev gowned “What?” as she giggled before leaving.  

Next morning after breakfast with everyone’s good wishes Mr. and Mrs. Dixit left for Jammu. They decided to go by road as Jammu airport is away from proper city.

On their way they stopped for having lunch and at afternoon they checked-in in their hotel.

After freshen up they went to take a stroll hand in hand. They will stay next day in Jammu so they planned to have side scene next day. Dev wanted to take it little easy for Sona’s health.

Next day they visited Raghunath Temple, Bahu fort, Bahu garden before lunch. Sona was exited like a child to see the fort. Afternoon they visited Musium and then spend evening in the famous aquarium of Jammu.

Next morning they started for Pahelgam, a small hill station in bank of Lidder river in Amarnath District. From that day Sona ditched her regular clothes and came in her jeans, top, lather jacket and boot Avtar and Dev became surprised as well as mesmerized by her.

As soon as Lidder came to view Sona demanded to go near Lidder. So on the way they stopped where Sona hurriedly went to Lidder and touched its water. Dev started to take numerous snaps, he was taking snaps from moving car also but such beautiful spots are always a treat for the person passionate to photography like him.

They reached at their resort at afternoon. Sona refused to stay in hotel room so both of them started to explore enjoyed the scenic beauty of this place. They tried their hand in little trek and also roamed in back of horse. Sona was little afraid of riding a horse but the horse man assured her that she will not fall down, with in very short time she managed to make a good term with her horse. The view of snow covered picks and bridge over Lidder made them speechless.

Next morning they went to Chandan bari, Chandan bari is called as gateway of Amarnath. Till now they saw snow from far but in Chandan Bari they got snow under their foot. Both of them become school kids, they trek a little with help of guide, had sledge ride, thown snow balls towards each other, sat near the source of Lidder River and took loots of snaps.

After spending a good good two hour they stared for Betab Vally, this is a man made park where shooting of Betab film took part they didn’t liked it much and spend less time there but they fully enjoyed journey to Aru Vally. The way was very beautiful. 

They stopped in a beautiful rest house on the way to enjoy the beauty of nature, after they reach there they took 1 hour horse ride to explore the valley and finally returned back very tired to their hotel room

Next day they enjoyed river rafting and visited Sheshnag lake and Tulian lake.

After enjoying Pahelgam fullest they moved to Srinagar. First day they stayed in a House boat in Dal lake. They explored Dal in a Shikara, they were startled to see a mini city in the lake itself. They saw floating gardens, market, police station, a floating farm land and people’s house half emerged in lake.

The young boy who was in charge of their Shikara took them to a local shop to taste special Kashmiri dishes and drink Kawa. They felt amazed to have Pure Kashmiri drink from a floating Kashmiri shop while seated in a Shikara.

That night was a full moon night and they enjoyed the beauty of the lake surrounded by snow covered hills in light of moon.

Then they moved to main city and visited Mughal gardens Shalimal Bag, Nishat Bag and chasme-Shahi. They were thrilled to be in such hysterical places these gardens were related to Kings and Queens of Mughal era. They visited Nagina Lake and then went to Shankaracharya Temple.

Dev and Sonakshi was mesmorised by the beauty of nature and the way through forest. Both side of road was covered with yellow flowers. When they reach up the site of the valley from the top took their breath away. Whole Srinagar was looking like a toy city around the lakes from there. Dev was irritated at the security system as they didn’t allow him to bring his camera there and Sona laughed at her husband’s annoyed but cute facial expression.

Their next destination was Gulmarg. the was like a panting to them, they saw some old frozen ice in the way even witnessed a frozen stream o water hanging from rock.

They were very exited to the ropeway ride from Gulmarg to Khilanmarg. The ride was amazing. At one point the slop was so indent that Sona hold Dev’s hand tightly but couldn’t close her eyes as she didn’t wanted to miss the scene. It was all pure white everywhere.

When they reached there there was only snow. To their utter good luck they got the change to enjoy mild snow fall also. Again they started to play with snow. They made snow figure, threw snow balls to each other. They made friends with another family who got accidentally hit by Sona’s snowball. Sona wanted to ski. Dev asked if she did before and after knowing she never he didn’t agree with her but she pouted and pleaded to him. finally he had to give in and both of them started to ski. Sona was surprised to see Dev’s smooth and gracious move while she was falling down again and again. She came to know then he was uses to ski during his stay to abroad for higher studies. She thought how much new things she will come to know about him.

Next they went to Sonmarg, Zozila pass, zero point. At zero point also they climbed snow covered path for few time.

In Kargil they visited War memorial, various monasteries, Rangdum and then moved towards Ladakh and Leh.

The more they were venturing in Kashmir they understood why Kashmir is called as Paradise as they become spellbound by the natural beauty.

They visited Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri Lake, Khardungla Pass the Highest civilian motor road in the world, Suru Valley, monasteries,The trek to the Drang Drung glacier, Leh Palace, Zanskar river and Nubra Valley, A desert among the snowy hills, it is a cold desert covered with white rock and white sand. They rode two-humped camels there.

Now it was the time to back home again, on their way back they stayed 1 day to Srinagar again but this time Dev refused to go out and wanted to spend that day like honeymoon couple instead of travelers and spend some cozy time before coming back to home
