Niklaus was in a hurry to get back to Mystic Falls, but Rosalie still didn't understood why. What could be so important there? It must be important if it could anger him like this. After he healed her, it wasn't long until the freshly turned hybrids started waking up. Niklaus fed them Elena's blood as quickly as he could. He ordered them to head to Mystic Falls as fast as they could and meet him there.

Rosalie wanted to ask, but she didn't dare. He had been suspicious of her before and he was already in an emotionally fragile state at the moment. She leaned her head against the window, while the hybrid was speeding through the night. She had never been in a car this fast, but she trusted that he wouldn't get into an accident. He had been around when cars were invented after all. She eyed him when he got out his phone and started dialling a number. Speeding? Alright, he had quick reflexes after all. But speeding and texting? That made her worry a little. But she kept quiet, trying to ignore him ordering around his hybrids like a war general.

"Why are we going back to Mystic Falls?" She asked eventually when he finally ended the phone call. She couldn't hold it in, she was too curious for her own good.

"I can't let you miss your homecoming, of course." Niklaus joked, obviously not wanting to tell her the real reason. "Homecoming...the irony."

Rosalie didn't laugh at the joke. "Am I really supposed to believe you care about a stupid school dance?"

"Remember the last one you went to? You got so drunk that I had to drive you home." Niklaus kept evading the real issue.

"Actually I don't remember." Rosalie remembered getting ready for the dance, dancing with her friends and drinking spiked punch. But she definitely couldn't see Niklaus surrounded by smelly teenagers in their school gym. "I don't really want to go to homecoming. I didn't even attend a single class this year and it's not like I have spare time to go shopping."

"Aren't you excited to be reunited with your little friends?" Niklaus teased. "I'm sure they will be glad to see you back in one piece."

"They think I'm at boarding school. But it will be nice to see them again. And then there's the thing with Dana. I'm scared it'll be harder when I'm home." Rosalie didn't know why she was telling him this. But something about him made her open up. "Will we stay there? Or do I have to leave again?"

"That depends on how homecoming works out." The hybrid muttered. "You should try to sleep. We'll be driving for a long time."

"I hope I can stay. Good night, Nik." She spoke, pulling the soft blanket over her small body.

Niklaus eyed the girl as she closed her eyes, trying to drift off into sleep. What was wrong with her? Why was she so kind to him? He hurt her, he almost killed her. And she didn't even seem to hate him for it.

He drove in silence, while the girl was falling asleep. Thoughts running around in his head, while he was driving. He knew he was driving into a trap. He just knew it. It was too good to be true. All this years, Mikael had haunted his worst nightmares and hunted him and his sibling. For centuries he was running from him and now a simple human girl had daggered him? Something that he, the almighty hybrid, had failed at multiple times. Especially Elena, she hated the hybrid with a burning passion. Rightly so, but now she had eliminated the one threat to his life? He didn't believe it for a second.

He had to be prepared. He was gonna be prepared. And everybody who tried to stop him would die a gruesome death. His hybrids would be there, protecting him and making sure his plan would work effortless. He had already called Tyler and gave him orders. Rage started pulsing through his body as he thought of the ambush he was expecting.

But then his eyes fell on the human girl on the passenger seat. Her heartbeat was slow but steady. He had to keep her safe. She couldn't get caught up in his mess. But how? He could compel her to stay home, but was she safe there? Maybe it was selfish, but he was sure the only safe place for her was by his side. He wouldn't take his eyes off her. Everyone of his hybrids would be there to protect her. She didn't deserve to be pulled into this, but it was too late now.

He turned on the radio, quietly so he wouldn't wake the girl. The soft sounds coming through the speakers helped the hybrid relax. He could do it. He was Klaus Mikaelson and everyone who crossed him would die.

Rosalie got very excited, when they finally drove into Mystic Falls. She stared out of the window, somehow expecting the town to have changed in her absence, but it was all the same.

"It feels good to be home." She mumbled, as the car turned into her street. She could already see her house, but then Niklaus just drove past it. "You missed my house."

"You can go home tomorrow. There's still one issue left to solve and you'll be safer with me." He stated blankly. He knew that it wasn't necessarily the truth, but he had no better explanation. And besides he had lots to do until tonight and barely no time at all.

Rosalie wanted to argue, but she knew that the hybrid was extremely stubborn. And what did he mean with keeping her safe? Was she in danger? She was distracted from her worries, when the car pulled up to the Lockwood mansion. Tyler's place, Rosalie groaned.

"What are we doing at Tyler's place?" She saw spotted Mrs. Lockwood in the doorway. There were lots of people walking around, carrying things into the mansion.

"Tyler offered his place for the party." Klaus explained as he parked the car. They got out of the car and per usual Niklaus' arm slid around her waist, pushing her towards the house. "Hello, Carol. Thank you for helping out."

"Klaus, come in please." She smiled coldly at the hybrid and he entered the mansion.

"Have you invited all of my friends inside yet?" He asked looking directly into her eyes.

"Yes." The woman answered monotonous.

"Fantastic. Well, then I'd say your job here is done. I want you to forget all about this and head to church. Stay there until tomorrow morning." He compelled her and she nodded.

Niklaus then lead Rosalie into the mansion and up the stairs. She was about to ask him, what they were doing here, when he opened a door to a bedroom.

"You mentioned needing a dress for homecoming, so I had sent for a few to choose from. You'll have everything here you need to get ready." He smiled at her, before looking at her more seriously, "You will not leave this house without my permission."

Rosalie blinked a few times as she realised what happened. "Why not?"

"It's safer in here. Don't worry, if all goes well you can return home tomorrow." Rosalie frowned at the hybrid. "Alright, I'll pick you up at 6."

Rosalie looked through the room. It seemed to be a type of guest room, something rich people like Tyler Lockwood seemed to have. And of course it had an en suite bathroom. The only thing missing was a walk in closet the size of her house. She headed to the bathroom. She needed a shower. When the hot water hit her back, she could finally relax. She was home. She was getting ready for homecoming. It's going to be a fun night with all her friends. She told herself, but somehow she found it hard to believe.
