Rosalie wasn't sure how she had gotten herself in this situation. One moment she was talking to this man during her break, now she was sitting at the kitchen counter in his apartment with someone who looked exactly like Elena Gilbert, but somehow wasn't. She nervously eyed the Elena lookalike.
"You look exactly like..." she whispered, but the girl cut her off.
"If you say Elena Gilbert, I might rip your head off." she hissed.
"Easy there, Katarina, I still need little Rosalie." the man who had lured her here spoke. Rosalie shrieked when two hands were placed on her shoulders. He let go of her and walked around the kitchen counter.
"I need to get back to work. My shift isn't over and I can't afford to lose my job. Please, let me go. I promise, I won't tell anyone." she begged the man standing on the other side of the counter.
"Your lies keep piling up, love." He inspected her for a minute. He couldn't believe that a human girl had fooled him and he resented her for it. He thought she was just a naive girl, but there was definitely more to her than meets the eye. She had spied on their conversation and lied to his face, even though she wasn't good at neither of it.
"I'm not lying, please, my mom only has me. She will be worried sick if I don't come home tonight." A tear made its way down her cheek. But the face of the man in front of her stayed stone cold. His lips formed into a cruel smirk as he saw the teardrop stop at her chin. It frustrated Rosalie to see such cruelty. He was simply toying with her for his own amusement. She had always believed in the good in people, but maybe she was wrong. Or why else would he hold her captive? "Niklaus, please, what do you want from me?"
"What I want from you?" He laughed. "What I want from you is to be quiet and sit tight." Rosalie wanted to protest, but no sound left her lips. She started panicking. How could he control her like that. Like a scared little girl she looked at the man who was quite enjoying her terror.
Soon enough he pulled out a phone and started yelling into the phone. Rosalie flinched at the noise, but he wasn't paying attention to her. He had much more important things to plan. He was about to leave, when he turned towards the blonde once more. "Be good while I'm gone. Don't leave the apartment, but you may move and talk again."
She stared at the man bewildered. "H-how did you do this?" she asked quietly, scared her voice would fail her again. But within a blink he was out the door.
Rosalie looked through the room and saw the brown haired girl lounging on the sofa.
"How can he control me like that?" she asked, since she didn't seem faced by what happened before. But when the other girl didn't reply, she added "You're Katarina, right?"
The girl finally turned around to face her. "Look, I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm not supposed to talk to you and I don't want to risk my head by doing so. You need to figure it out for yourself."
By the time Niklaus returned, the sky was already dark. He stormed through the door, apparently still in bad mood.
"Where's Maddox? He should have been back by now." He walked right past Rosalie without acknowledging her. Rosalie bit her lip and hoped he would calm down soon.
"I don't know." Katerina muttered. Niklaus sat down at the dining table and opened a laptop. Rosalie was curious, but she wasn't stupid. If he caught her snooping around, he would never let her go. "What are you doing? Where's Elena?" The brown haired girl asked bored.
"I sent her off with Greta," Klaus mumbled while staring at his screen intensively. "It's almost time."
Rosalie whipped her head around when the apartment door suddenly burst open. Where the police coming to get her? But the doorframe was empty.
"I wasn't aware you've been invited in." Niklaus closed the laptop and Rosalie had to suppress a shriek, when Damon suddenly appeared in front of her.
"I've come here to tell you, that you have to postpone the ritual." The dark haired man stated. But Niklaus didn't seem very impressed.
"Didn't we already have this conversation." Niklaus said, not even turning around to face him.
"Yeah, we did, but that was before I rescued your werewolf and vampire and killed your witch." Rosalie flinched when she saw Niklaus jumping out of his seat.
"Excuse me." Niklaus gritted through his teeth, now finally facing Damon,
"And you can kill me for it. I don't care. It was all me." Damon said unemotionally.
"You see, that is exactly why I invited Rosalie here over. To make sure you and your stupid peers behave. You see, this ritual is going to happen, you could try to stop me, but then sweet little Rosalie would die alongside Elena." Niklaus once again placed his hands on my shoulders and sent shivers down my spine.
"What?" I gasped and tried to free myself of his grip, but of no avail.
"So you better be good little boys and stay out of it." I flinched when he pressed down on my shoulder.
"Please stop, Niklaus. It hurts." Rosalie whimpered. Finally he let go of her shoulders and the girl immediately touched the bruised skin. Niklaus didn't pay her any attention, instead he walked up to Damon stopping right in front of him.
"I've heard about you. The crazy impulsive vampire in love with his brother's girl." Rosalie started biting on her lip. Had he just said vampire? "I knew one of you would try to stop me. It was just a 50/50 guess on who."
Niklaus walked back to his laptop on the dining table. He pressed a button and screams filled the room. Rosalie was confused, but Niklaus wide grin told her that it wasn't good.
"The nice thing about werewolves is that they tend to travel in packs." Niklaus smiled and through his phone over to Damon. "Do you need a closer look?"
Damon caught the phone and looked at the screen. "Jules"
"When you spend a thousand years trying to break a curse, you learn a thing or two. First rule is always have a backup. Backup werewolf, backup witch..." Klaus whispered now standing in front of Damon again. Could this be real, Rosalie thought to herself, or was only this a wild fever dream.
"Backup vampire." Damon finished his sentence.
"I've got that covered too." Before she knew what was happening had Klaus attacked Damon. Rosalie jumped up, but there was nothing she could do. She stared at him horrified as Damon laid motionless on the ground, his neck bend in an unnatural angle. She had never seen a dead body before.
"Is he dead?" She whispered and stared at the pale body.
"Oh, love, by now you should have realised what we are. Or are you nothing more but a pretty face?" He smirked into her direction.
"Are you going to kill me?" She stared at the man who just laughed as a response.
"Katerina, come here, I need you to do something for me."
Rosalie wasn't paying attention to her surroundings anymore. Her mind was racing and she felt dizzy. Vampires, Witches, Werewolf. This couldn't be real, they were kidding surely. They had to be. Because that was the stuff of movies, not the real world.
"Are you alright, love?" Suddenly the girl was snatched out of her thoughts. Big green eyes looked up at the man standing in front of her, "You look a little pale."
"I don't know," Rosalie whispered and with that the world around her started spinning. Strong hands held her as she sacked towards the ground.
"Easy there, love." His voice wasn't like it was before. It was gentle and caring. Rosalie looked up to the man who had his eyebrows furrowed. He guided her to a chair and helped her sit down.
"Are you a vampire?" She asked with terror in her weak voice, not daring to take her eyes away from the man.
"You could call me that." He said quietly as he was crouching down in front of her. "But after tonight, I'm going to be much more than this."
"But what do you need me for? I just want to go home." The girl bit her lip and her hand went through her hair.
"My darling, you are just collateral damage." His hand went to touch her cheek, but he abruptly stopped. "I need to get going."
