"YOU TALK TO ALASTOR?!" Angeldust shrieked from what he just saw. You still felt bad for what you had done to probably your only closest entity, and lost your only chance of making a living here. "Not anymore."
You regret cutting off the closest person you would talk to. He's gonna view me as a threat, I need to be careful."Well, I have a few questions to ask," He requested. "Sure, just not personal ones," you agreed.
"When did you come here?"
"Two weeks ago."
"How did you make a living?"
"Overlord battle,"
"WAIT SO YOU'RE THAT DEATHMATCH GUY!!" He stood up excitedly from the sofa and in shock he encountered you.
"Pardon?"
"You're that new overlord that just joined this shithole!!Cherri has been talking about you all this time!! How you had this skull thingy and beat the crap out of that guy!! She said you were so cool and all but would've been better with bombs!!"
Wow so that's what people have been thinking of me? Also who's Cherri?
"I guess that's somewhat true, I think you should go back home," you reminded. The only thing you were supposed to do was to bandage him up.
"What a pity...alright bye" he left your apartment without hesitation. Bites then came out, all moody. Maybe it's because you haven't spend much time with Bites, so you decided to spend the rest of the evening, chilling for once, relaxing in your humble adobe. You then washed up and finally made something filling to eat. When you got back to sleep you thought about that Rose brooch you got from him- Oh why am I thinking of him?! I'm doomed but I'm so tired already I can't deal with so much stuff right now... You decided to take a walk instead to refresh yourself.
You wanted to go to the flower shop where that kind old lady was to comfort yourself. It was a safe place walking in there, the smell of florals from hell, the warm lights. It was good to be there again.
"Hello there," the old lady said. You greeted her back. This old lady was short and pudgy, she had a plain baby blue dress with a white cardigan on and was holding a jar of herbs, her assuring smile with her warm expression was the closest thing to life you could see. She had silver hair tied to a bun, and paws as her hands, she had a long striped tail and cat ears. A cat demon? "Hello," you continued to look through the different plants and incense she had. You felt like purchasing them but you already had some at home. Oh come on you can't simply make a simple impulse buy you're better than that.
"Are you okay?" The frail voice of the old lady. The sudden question hit you. It's been a long time someone checked on you. Not just you, your well-being. "You seemed tired dear would you like a cup of herbal tea?" You really wanted something nice for yourself just once and accepted the offer, nodding your head.
How in the hell did this old lady keep herself safe in this chaotic and heinous world? Why is she so nice? So kind and sweet? Is it safe to drink tea simply? I need to check for citrus and cinnamon smells. If she had the stainless steel tea spoon-perhaps I could check-
"Come dear follow me," she led you to a small corner of the shop where there were two chairs. You sat down, hesitant because you felt like you were invading her personal space.
You were weary. She went out of the room and came back in with two cups and the tea pot. You stood up to help her carry the tea pot because she looked like she was struggling. After settling down, she suddenly introduced herself. "Oh where are my manners, I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Mrs Willows Maxine. You can call me Maxine. Sounds boyish doesn't it? What's yours?" She- she has the same surname as me...... Does she look like someone I know?
"I-I'm Tom," you stuttered. Not knowing which questions to answer. You had a set of questions for her too but before you could ask she said "It's nice having someone to talk to finally during tea time, I've always wanted to tell someone my stories,""I'd be willing to listen, by the way what tea is this?"
"Oh it's green tea from the human world, it's really comforting. Apparently everyone is raving about it in trade."
Trade? Access to human world? Is she some hidden powerful being I am not aware of? Is that why she hasn't been attacked? I like green tea too- Such a shame people only realized now.
You listened to her stories, based on her stories, unfortunately it wasn't someone you knew in your old life. You got your hopes high again.
"If you need any advice you can always ask me-" "Childish question but how do I apologize to someone?" You gripped your vest ends in humiliation, swallowing your pride.
"Well child, you have to be genuine and sincere," she mentioned with a warm tone. Genuine was a word you haven't heard for a long time. You have lost your genuineness long ago. You couldn't be sincere either. Every sentence that came out your mouth was...calculated ,
estimated,
predicted,
thought through carefully
and analyzed. Not every, most. Was Alastor the reason you were more genuine? More honest than you were before? Because he resembled someone you knew. Just maybe if that demon was him, I should seize my chances. I should make it up to him. Whether he accepts it or not it is his choice eventually.
"Thank you Mrs Willows," you bowed after finishing the tea. "Call me Maxine dear," she reminded again. "Farewell...Maxine," you bowed again and left the store. "Farewell Willows" Maxine said. Maxine brought the cups back to the sink, washed them. Maxine giggled to herself "I know budding romance when I see it."
While you walked out the store and decided to go to Alastor's place. Communication is key.
After spending 15 minutes walking over, you were hesitant. Should I knock? Is there anyone following me?- You knocked knowing that this was probably the only chance you had. You had your hand placed on his wooden maroon door. As your arms formed into a fist...
