"Excuse you?" Angie raised a brow as she looked at Daya. "You better be joking. As if we'd let Bosco just run off with some stranger."
Daya went silent, looking down and slowly pulling her hand away from where it had been resting on Bosco's knee. "Y-Yeah. That was too much. I'm sorry..."
Bosco didn't say anything, her knee starting to bounce again as soon as she lost the contact from Daya. She whispered something unintelligible under her breath, leaning back and looking as if she wanted to disapear.
Deja gave Daya a weird look before continuing to explain to Bosco how they'd do business. But Daya could tell the smaller girl couldn't listen very well. She saw her bottom lip start to quiver, and without thinking she reached out and took her hand while Angie wasn't watching.
Bosco felt relief when Daya held her hand, like it brought some sort of calm aura with it. She looked down, doing her best to listen to Deja as she started fidgeting with Daya's rings.
Daya smiled as she watched her, just happy she was starting to warm up to her more. She really didn't want to leave her behind, but the reaction towards what she said made her incredibly insecure. So she didn't bring it up again. At least not in front of anyone else.
She could feel Crystal and Lux staring at her, like they knew exactly what she was thinking. She waited until Deja was done speaking before leaning over to whisper to Bosco. "Can I talk to you alone for a minute?"
Bosco blushed, but nodded. Once she had said her goodbyes to Deja and Crystal and Lux had wandered away, she turned to Angie. "Can...Can I talk to Daya a-alone for a moment?"
Angie didn't look too sure about that. She looked Daya over, glancing at her and Bosco's hands before sighing and nodding a bit. "Yeah, I'll be outside. Yell for me if you need me."
Bosco watched her go, still playing with one of Daya's rings. She looked down at it so she didn't have to face the intimacy of looking Daya in the eyes. She was silent, so Daya spoke first.
"I wasn't joking." She said quietly, lacing her fingers with Bosco's and making her eyes widen. "If you want to go with us, I'll convince Deja to let you."
Bosco bit her lip, using her other hand to play with Daya's rings. "But why...?" She whispered quietly, still looking down.
Daya blushed this time, watching the smaller girl trace her finger over the red stone in one of the dark bands. "Because uh...you're technically part of our team now and I..."
Bosco glanced up at her. "...You what?"
Daya sighed, having a bad feeling she was starting to fall head over heels already. The thought of leaving Bosco behind was too much to handle. She needed the other girl. There was something about her that she didn't want to let go of. "I like you. I don't want to say goodbye yet."
Bosco's cheeks went red. She bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, eyes still focused on Daya's rings. "W-Why...?" She asked in a whisper.
"Because you're unlike any girl I've ever met." Daya said, gazing down at her. "I find the shyness cute and endearing. And you're adorable. And talented. And I...feel like there's something there. Between us."
Bosco felt a tear run down her cheek, her heart beating so fast that she thought it'd burst out of her chest. "O-Oh..." She whispered, trying to process what she said.
Daya was quiet as she let her think, looking back down at their hands. Bosco was still playing with her rings, seeming to favor one in specific. "You like that one?"
Bosco shakily nodded a little. "Y-Yeah..."
Daya pulled her hand away, taking the black metal band off and placing it onto Bosco's finger instead. "You can have it." She said. "The red stone is a ruby."
