Roman and Patton were leaving the supermarket the next week, getting more supplies as Logan's request. Roma's bashed a few heads while Patton ran to the bunker, when his eyes widened seeing Roman get knocked out cold against a lamp post. Patton didn't have time to turn back as tears filled his eyes and he got to the bunker. A zombie stood above Roman, before picking up his weapon. When a zombie that was a middle-aged man tried to step toward Roman, the one standing above him swung the bar and killed the other.
The one that had saved him picked him up, before walking into the woods. Eventually he got to a small cabin, with a black jacket hanging from the window. The zombie enters the cabin and sets Roman on the couch gently, covering him with a blanket putting an ice pack where Roman got knocked out to reduce the swelling. A few hours later Roman wakes up and panics before thinking about there being other survivors.
"Are there any other people here?!" Roman asks sitting up quickly, wincing a little. The zombie pokes his head around the corner, before moving away quickly. "Hey I saw you! You don't have to hide!"
"...dønt....çænt." Thee zombie stated, trying to match the words but several coming out as growls and moans. Roman's eyes widened.
"Is there a zombie?! Do you need help?!" Roman stood, trying not to fall over as he steadied himself.
"Nø!....stæy." Roman sighs and goes over to him, his eyes widen as he grabs his bat. The pale green zombie's dim purple eyes widened as he hurriedly crawled back pushing himself against a wall. Roman holds his bat ready to swing.
"What were you planning on doing, fiend?! You were going to kill me?! Eat me?!" Roman glared at the zombie and it abruptly stands up he winds back to swing. "Don't move another--" before he could finish his sentence the zombie ran off behind itself to a room. Roman walked until he hear a vomiting noise coming from the bathroom. When the zombie steps out it moves a few steps away from Roman. "Did you seriously just vomit because I said--"
"Plēæsē....dønt..." The zombie holds itself as it eyes the baseball bat wearily.
"What? Mention zombie food or not kill you.?"
"...bøth...?" The zombie looks at him with pleading eyes. Roman puts down the baseball bat, making sure the creature does not move closer. The zombie stays where it is, too afraid to move.
"You're coming with me, got it.?" Roman stated glaring at him slightly. The zombie nods, after a few hours they get back to the bunker. "Stay over there until I tell you to come here." The zombie nods and moves. Roman knocks on the door which Patton opens.
"Roman?!" Patton exclaimed surprised, as he hugged Roman tightly.
"Yeah I'm back, and I found something for Logan to test on." Roman stated as he pulled the zombie over to him. The zombie was trying to push away from him, Patton was confused why he could see fear in it's eyes. Logan walks over to them.
"And why would this interest me even in the slightest?" Logan questioned, obviously annoyed, eying the creature wearily.
"Because you can find a cure! Also you can figure out why it talks somewhat and why it refuses to eat people," Roman stated trying in the last part at the very end. Patton and Logan's eyes widened as the zombie struggled to get out of Roman's hold. "Stay still you beast!" Roman yelled at the creature making it freeze up instantly.
"I'll take him for you, Ro." Patton said kindly taking the zombie's hand and taking him inside. Patton takes him to a spare room they had. "I'm sorry for how Roman behaved, he's usually really nice." The monster nodded, sitting on the bed and curling up slightly. "Do you want to tell me your name? I'm Patton!" The creature waves slightly but shakes his head no. "That's okay! We'll find something to call you in the meantime!"
Throughout the rest of the day the creature did not leave the room Patton showed him to, however they knew he was still there because every few hours one of them would check on him making sure he was still there. Patton was starting to get worried about the creature, although Roman and Logan didn't seem worried at all. When Patton goes to check on him he sees he hasn't moved an inch from where he was hours ago.
"Hey, are you okay?" Patton questioned, moving over to the creature who's eyes widened as he moved away from him. Patton stayed still, giving the other space to adjust. After a bit the zombie looks at him. "So, are you okay? The times I've been in here you haven't moved and inch from the last time I was here..."
"Yēæh......sçærēd." The zombie stated, not coming any closer to Patton.
"You're...scared? A zombie...is scared of us?" Patton questioned, words full of surprise. The zombie nodded as he looked at him wearily. "You aren't...bad are you? You're just misunderstood..." Patton questioned sadly, as the zombie looked at him confused.
"Mïs...dēr...tøød?"
"Misunderstood...you aren't what people think you are." Patton said, smiling. The zombie nodded. "I'm going to teach you to speak better later, but for now I'll go get you food." Patton smiles and leaves the room. As he is getting food from the fridge to cook, Roman goes over to him.
"Patton, you were in there for quite some time. Did that fiend try anything? Did he try to bite you?!" Roman questioned, angered with the zombie. Patton just shook his head as he started cooking the meat for the zombie. "Well then why were you in there for so long?" Roman questioned, obviously confused.
"I went to check on him, he didn't move at for hours since he came here. So I went to check on him, he didn't try anything.... actually I think he's afraid of us. Anyway I'm going to teach him how to speak better and right now I'm making him some food." Patton stated as he continued to make sure the meat was okay while getting some chicken nuggets on a plate making room for the meat as well.
"It's obviously a ruse! You can't trust him! He's a monster!" Roma's exclaimed, annoyed as he tried to get Patton to understand. However, Patton just looked at him with pity. "W-What? What am I missing?" Roman questioned, confused.
"Roman, as much you're my friend and I treasure you," Patton stated, "you need to understand that you threatened him! He's afraid of us all because of you and he probably wasn't going to do anything to us anyway!" He exclaimed as he took the meat off the stove and put it on the plate with the nuggets. "Seriously Roman, can you just apologize and try to get to know him? Please?" Patton asked looking at Roman, with a pleading look.
"Fine. Sure I'll give him a chance, but I don't trust him as far as I can throw him!" Roman stated, annoyed that he agreed to do that. Patton smiles happily as he picks up the plate and goes to the zombie's room. He knocks on the door and walks in, before going over to the bed and putting the plate with food on the bedside drawer. The zombie looks at him wearily, not moving.
"It's okay, you can eat this stuff...right?" Patton asked curiously as the zombie nodded. "Okay! Well it's normal food and I hope you like it!" Patton exclaimed, smiling. The zombie looks at him before looking at the food, before slowly reaching his hand out and taking the pale before curling in on himself a bit and eating. "Well I'll let you eat, see you in the morning.....what should I call you if you don't want to tell me your name?"
"Æn...ïēty." The zombie says, stopping eating for a bit.
"Anxiety?" Patton questions, the zombie nods. Patton smiles and stands up. "Okay! Well, see you tomorrow Anxiety!" Patton says cheerfully before leaving the room. Anxiety smiles a little, finishing his food.
