"NOT MY ROOMMATE, YOU BITCH!" I had very unpleasantly awoken from a peaceful sleep to see Tal holding a sword to Kendall's throat. If it wasn't for the fact that the knife was aimed right at her collarbone, I would have attacked Tal and finished it right there.
Rascal rushed into the room.
"HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE?"
"I have the passcode. And please don't scream."
"DONT SCREAM? TAL IS HOLDING MY ROOMMATE AT SWORDPOINT WITH YOUR SWORD AND YOU EXPECT ME TO BE CALM?!"
"That's not my sword. It's his."
"SAME DIFFERENCE. YOU GAVE IT TO HIM."
"Tori," Kendall cautiously advised me, "I don't think yelling is helping."
"No," Tal spoke for the first time. "It's not."
"How," Rascal cut straight to the point ,"the hell did you get in here."
"I took a shortcut. That's all you need to know."
"You know more than you're letting on," I realized, "spill."
"Why should I? I'm the one with the sword."
"And, I'm the one who's worried about you exterminating humanity." I wasn't really worried about Tal, I just wanted to bluff to get him to talk. It worked."
"No, no you've got it wrong. I don't want to exterminate humanity. Humanity isn't evil, it's a virus, a disease. And the bacteria that are causing it to be poisoned need to die."
"And," Rascal concluded, "I assume you're talking about us when you mean refer to poisoned humanity. Absolutely lovely. If you wanted to kill Kendall though-"
"I'd have to know her Achilles heel?" He flipped his sword dangerously close to Kendall's face so that the blade was now facing the back of her collarbone, her Achilles heel.
"How do you know that." Rascal growled.
"That's for me to know and you to keep wondering about."
"You better be glad I left my weapons in my room. Or else, you'd be dead by now."
"Would I? If you so much as lift a finger I kill her."
"IF YOU SO MUCH AS SCRATCH HER I WILL PERSONALLY MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ESCORTED TO THE GATES OF HELL."
"Scary. Only problem is that you're over there and I'm over here. And don't think about calling the police, or anybody else here."
"Tal," Rascal reasoned, "let's talk this out."
"NO." Tal roared. "FOR YEARS I HAVE SLEPT AND NOW I WILL HAVE MY VENGEANCE. THE REBIRTH OF EVIL IS UPON THE UNIVERSES."
"So," Kendall spoke up, "you're gonna rule the world as the supreme ruler, etcetera, etcetera. Not impressed."
"No, I want to watch the world burn, watch the world tear itself apart from the inside, watch humanity cause their own downfall. And I'm not alone."
"You know," I advised, "you really should rethink that plan, because, as Kendall said, not impressive. You're about as intimidating as a butterfly, but even butterflies can get really, really annoying."
"And," Rascal added, "whoever you are, you've done a really good job of controlling Tal."
"That's where you're mistaken. No one is controlling me, I am the one in control."
"Don't believe his lies, Tal." Rascal wasn't buying it. "You have no control. Back away now and nobody gets hurt."
"No, Rascal, I'm sorry. But you know that Kendall has to be exterminated." With that Tal drew the sword back across Kendall's collarbone, stabbing her in her Achilles heel. Time slowed down.
