Sofia's POV

"SOFIA WAKE UP! It's already 7. It's the first day of school. We can't be late today," shouted Amber from outside of my dorm door.

"Ugh...We are already in college, missing one day won't matter." I groaned as I rolled around and put my head under the covers. I heard the thumping of Amber's obnoxiously high heels running through the hallway. I immediately ran to the door and opened it before she woke the whole college up.

"Sofia! I'm ready let's go. At least your hair is done just get up and do your make up and put your clothes on."

"Fine," I said as I rubbed my blurry eyes.

She had a really cute floral dress on with a white jean jacket. It looked great on her; she is literally a real life Barbie. Her makeup is always on point, the clothes she wears makes it look like she just got off the runway, and I don't think I've ever seen one piece of hair out of place. Amber is my best friend, and also the closest thing I have to a sister. She has been there for me since the day my mom passed away. She has helped me through everything from fashion to girl drama to being there to wake me up to go to school. Amber lives just a few dorm rooms down from me. Most of the time I'm either at her dorm room or she is at mine. I wish she and I were dorm buddies.

I put some foundation and powder on so I didn't look so sleepy. Next, I did the rest of my makeup and then I was stuck.

"What should I wear? It's the first day of college. I want to look good, but not fancy. Should I wear jeans or shorts? Or maybe a skirt? No, forget the skirt. Help me please Amber," I groaned while throwing the clothes I had in my hands to the ground.

"Umm, let's see what you got in this messy closet of yours. Ehhh, ugly. Why do you even have this? So last year."

"Okay, okay stop bagging on my clothes. Get out of my closet. I'll pick something."

I ended up just picking my pair of American Eagle light washed shorts, a gray shirt with a red plaid flannel over it. I wore my favorite converse that I custom designed with sharpies and I was all ready for the first day of the college.

This year was different than all the other years of high school. Amber and I were going to USC. We had planned to go to the same college since we were just little fetuses and were determined to make it happen. I was really nervous. I felt like everyone was judging me from my clothes to the way I leisurely walked. Amber and I had basically the same classes but her English class was in the afternoon while I took English as my first class. We were both majoring in English, but Amber was becoming a high school English teacher and I was thinking of becoming a journalist. My first class was English. When I walked in, all I was thinking was "who should I go sit by?" I just looked around to see but saw no one that looked welcoming to sit next too. I just went to the front center, the most hated seats.

A few minutes later this girl walked in. She seemed confused too. She just scanned the room and found her way next to me. It was a little bit of awkward silence until she broke it.

"Hi, I'm Ashtyn but you can call me Ash. What's your name?" Ashtyn asked. She was a really pretty girl. Her hair was a beautiful voluminous brown, but the ends were ombred to a blonde. She didn't look like the typical type of friend that I have. Instead of the typical clothed friends I had, she was wearing short shorts and a crop top so high you could practically see her bra!

"Hello, my name is Sofia."

"Are you a freshman?" I'm already betting that I'll get asked this question at least 10 times.

"Yup. First day. Are you a freshman too?"

"Yeah. I don't even know how I ended up in this school. I hate it! I ended up in the school called the University of Spoiled Children just because my parents got the right friends with connections to get me in."

"It's not that bad. It's only the first day." I tell her hoping not to get a disgusted look back.

"Well, I don't like it. I want to leave already."

The professor began talking and we had nothing to say anymore so we sat in silence together and pretended to be super interested in the rules and syllabus of the class. It turned out that Ash and I had every class together! I don't know if I am excited about this or disappointed.
