Getting up early has never been your favorite. Having to postpone a date with a hot guy has also never been your favorite. Yet somehow, you feel just slightly excited to see how the whole "mission" thing works.
You wake up early and get dressed in dark cargo pants, combat boots, and a black t-shirt and grab the duffle bag packed with the items Price told you to bring.
Walking to the office never really feels like this, cold, unassuming, and the feeling that someone is right behind you. As you are on the last block, a dark figure pulls you into the alleyway beside you.
You try to scream, but the tall figure puts their gloves hand over your mouth to silence you. They pull you close to their chest and start to quietly whisper in your ear,
"Now I know this is your first mission, I I don't want you to be a fuckin' problem, understand?," a familiar voice says.
You push their hand off of your mouth and pull yourself opposite of them, "Ghost?! What the fuck?!," you frantically say before Ghost takes a step toward you.
Ghost backs you against the wall and puts his hands on the wall behind you, blocking you in, "love, you have been a distraction to someone on my team, disobeyed me, and talked back. You're out of place, so for this mission you need to know how to follow my every order, understand?" His low gravely voice speaks as it slides past your ears.
"U-understood," you say, almost shaking. He backs away and leaves the alley and walks with long strides to the office.
You eventually snap out of your shock and pick your bag back up and continue walking, realizing that the behemoth of a man that once stood over you, has now disappeared. As soon as you walk in the doors, you belong to the briefing room where the rest of the team is and instinctively set yourself down next to Soap.
"Ah, y/n, 7:02, you're late," Price jokes trusting that this is a one time thing.
You barely look up at him before realizing you need to respond, "Oh, ah, sorry," you say trying to hide the fear and fluster in your voice, "I got a little side tracked this morning,".
Soap looks at you with a worried look seeing how pulled away you are, instead of your normal smiling self, "you okay, lass?" He asks putting a comforting hand on your knee.
"Y-yeah, yeah, I'm fine," you mutter, looking at his hand before you look up and meet the gaze of Ghost, eyeing you two from across the table. Soap looks up, meeting his eyes and giving him a worried look before Price finally gets his notes together and starts the briefing. The briefing finishes with you silently paying attention and Soap and Ghost exchanging glances to one another from across the table.
"Ok 141, let's head out," Price says over the silence prompting you all to get up and head to the plane.
You all reach the plane and sit down with Soap chowing to sit on one side of you, and Ghost across the plane from you, "ok team," Price starts, "when we get there, we have to be prepared to move, we are unable to get vehicles close to the safe house. Y/n, I need you to stay close to Ghost because of your limited combat experience,"
"You mean my total lack of combat experience?" You chime in, starting to act like yourself again. This comment earns a smile and slight laugh from Soap, but a death glare from Ghost, as if you don't belong there.
You double check the straps on your vest and put your duffle bag on your back and get behind Ghost as you unload from the plane.
"Stay close, love. Wouldn't want you to get lost on your first mission." Ghost says to you cooly while you feel the fear of your lieutenant and first mission. You look back at Soap for reassurance, he gives you a smile, but you can see tinge of jealousy in his eyes, but you're not sure who for.On the ground, you hug close to Ghost, not leaving his side until he tells you too.
"See, look whose bein' a good girl for me now? All it too was a scare," Ghost torments, even though your heart is beating out of your chest, afraid of what, or who, you could encounter. As you are trying to watch through your untrained eyes, someone jumps out and grabs you, pulling you to the ground. Ghost is quick to react, dropping his bag and himself to the ground. Separating the man from you, Ghost quickly takes his knife and slits the man's throat. "Now that you've gotten a taste for the field, are you gonna behave for me now, love?" Taunting you again, but this time looming over you with a bloody knife. He helps you to your feet and soon you make it to the safe house after everyone else had arrived.
You two walk in the door, and the first thing you see is Soap standing up and not saying anything, then price swoops in to you two from the kitchen, "ah, see Soap, they're fine! Did you two run into anyone?" Price asks playfully.
"Just one, but I took him out pretty fast," Ghost let's roll of his tongue looking to you.
You walk over to Soap standing by the couch, when you get close to him he starts, "hey, let me show you too your room/office," then nervously starts walking with you down the hall leave the rest of 141 behind. You both make it to your room, you both walk in and Soap closes the door behind you, "um, y/n, can I tell you something?"
You turn to face him to see Soap figuring with his hands, "yeah, Soap, what's up?" You try to smile.
"Um, is everything okay?" He says nervously, "you two were gone a while, I heard you ran into someone, and you weren't very lively at the briefing this morning..." he starts to ramble.
You cut him off, "Soap, I'm fine, trust me. I think I'm pretty tough, the only thing that is upsetting me right now is the fact we had to postpone our date," you give him a weak smile.
Soap returns the smile and quickly brushes your hand with his before turning and leaving to let you settle in.
You set your bag down and look at the subpar computer you're set up with, but you couldn't expect much out here. You leave for the bathroom to rinse your face before returning to your team.
You walk down the hallway into the kitchen to see Gaz cooking something that smells good and Price sitting at the table alone, you sit down with him. "So, Gaz, what's for dinner?" You call to him.
"Pasta, it's the best we've got, the safe houses are never really stocked well. But because I've made a lot of pasta, I've gotten pretty good at it," Gaz say proudly.
You relax back in your chair, "I guess I'll have to believe you,"
Price butts in, "oh- y/n, I need you to log into that computer and make sure the files transferred properly. I'd rather deal with this now if there's a problem than later,"
"Ok, on it," you say getting up and going back to your room.
You sit down to get logged in, but that's when you hear muffled arguing from the next room.
"Did ya really have to scare her like that? She's never done this!" Soap says,
"Exactly, she's never done this. She has no training and is completely oblivious to what we do. I'm not letting some computer nerd die at my hands." Ghost says slightly raising his voice on the last line.
Soap starts again, "you pulled her into an alley and proclaimed your dominance over her, it doesn't matter what your intentions were. You need to at least try to act civil to her,"
Ghosts voice is hushed, "I'm not letting anyone on my team die, for any reason...she needs to learn...you like...," is all you hear before something get pushed against the wall and you hear a small moan from the room. You take that as your que to finish up checking on the files then getting back to the kitchen.
You sit down at the table and tell Price that the files transferred and there's nothing to worry about.
Eventually Ghost and Soap walk into the kitchen and sit down at the table.
You notice that Soaps cheeks are a bit flushed, but that thought gets cut off by Gaz setting down food in front of you.
