I take a breath, the warm spring air filling my nose. It's always so peaceful during the day, hearing the ilu playing together and the children running along the beach. As I played in the sand I hear the distant calls of... Ikran? I shoot up from my position, I run to my Mauri coaching my mother out to where the newcomers had landed. "Come on mother" I whined slightly sounding like a small child. Since she was pregnant she wasn't as fast as she used to be, we walk through the crowd, and then we finally arrive. father had beaten us there, I quickly greeted my father and the newcomers before shuffling over to my brother and his friend. "What's going on?" Tsireya said, I slightly jumped from the new presence. I simply shrugged before looking back at the deep blue family. As I study the family my eyes lay upon a boy, he was slightly taller than the other children 'probably the eldest' i thought to myself, he had the most gorgeous eyes they reminded me of the sun. After staring for a little while I feel a tug on my arm, snapping me out of my trance. It was my sister "what do you want Tsireya" I whispered, trying not to interrupt the important meeting between the two leaders. "are you ok Y/N? you were zoning out" she said sarcasm dripping from the girl's mouth. I rolled my eyes knowing she was just playing with me, the soft yet annoying giggles coming from her mouth as I did so.

"Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us, treat them as your brothers and sisters" I let out a relieved sigh, an argument had broken out and I was worried for the poor family. "They do not know the reef so they will be like babies taking their first breath! help them learn so they do not suffer the shame of being useless" I was almost shocked at my father's sternness, usually, he was open to helping others but at the same time, no one from the forest had ever asked for a safe place among us. Somehow me and my siblings made our way over to our parents, "my children will help you get settled" My eyes shot over to my father, I knew I would not win that fight so I stayed quiet but my brother on the other hand, did not. "father why must i-" my brother didn't even finish halfway through his sentence before being cut off "it is decided" my father boomed.

                                                                                               -TIME SKIP-

Me and Tsireya along with a very grumpy Aonung were helping the Sully's unpack all of their belongings. I went to grab a box when I bumped into the boy from before "oh I'm so sorry.. um" fuck! I forgot his name, we stood there for a couple of seconds, the silence getting awkward "Neteyam, my name is Neteyam" that's right his name was Neteyam. We exchanged some small talk whilst we unpacked boxes he was quite charming, to say the least. "How about we go for a swim to cool off" I suggested, noticing everyone had turned their heads to look at me, nodding aggressively. I ushered them all to the dock where we met with Rotxo. "Hey Y/N" Rotxo chirped embracing me in a hug, I wrapped my arms around his neck giving him a tight squeeze before turning to everyone and pointing to the water. Me and Tsireya were the first to dive in and then Aonung and Rotxo, 'you guys go on ill wait for them' i signed as they swam off. It wasn't long before everyone was officially in the water. I signed for the Sully kids to come over but none of them understood, so I motioned my hand for them to come over, and then they all gave each other an excited look and swam over to me. I started swimming over to my siblings occasionally checking on the forest kids. I finally made it over to my siblings and Rotxo. 'where are they?' Aonung signed, and a flash of worry came over me as I snapped my head around looking for the group. We all looked up to see they had resurfaced 'maybe they needed to catch a breath' I proposed but the two boys had more to add on 'they aren't good divers' Aonung signed mocking the poor kids 'they aren't good swimmers in general' Rotxo added. I rolled my eyes at the two boys before swimming up to check on them.  what's wrong," I questioned  "you guys are... so.. fast" Neteyam managed to answer through his shaky breath. That's when Tsireya surfaced "is everything ok Y/N?" the girl asked worried about the others, "you guys are to fast wait for us!" Tuk spoke up, I had grown to like Tuk she was sweet and mischievous. Rotxo and Aonung finally came up. "you are not good divers maybe good at swinging through trees but-" Aonung was interrupted by Tsireya slapping him upside the head. I couldn't help but laugh "come one bro" Lo'ak spoke up "Come on guys we don't speak this finger talk we don't know what you're saying" Tsireya being her usual chirpy self offered to teach them. "Well, would you guys like to take a break it's almost lunch" We all nodded in agreement before Rotxo spoke up "where is Kiri?" I tilted my head at him wondering who he was referring to but then I realized the other sister wasn't with us. I quickly stuck my head underwater spotting her instantly, "don't worry she's just looking at the reef" I comforted, everybody, letting out a sigh of relief. After we got Kiri we swam back to shore rushing to the center of the village to grab our food. "Hey, can I sit here?"
