The funeral (Mini filler chapter)

I rode with Lo'ak along the water, it was Neteyam's funeral. I held onto Lo'ak's shoulders as we dragged Neteyam's body over to the graveyard "you good back there" Lo'ak called as we started getting off "As good as I can be" I responded we grabbed Neteyam from his float, we all swam him over to the spot but we quickly handed him off to Neytiri and Jake, I watched as they swam him down to the floor he was leaving me and that's when it really hit. I felt a hand reach out to mine and when I looked over it was Lo'ak, he was already crying and he needed a hand to hold. I grabbed his hand and I squeezed it tight, we both looked at each other 'he isn't going forever Lo'ak' I signed as we both started crying. The bubbles from my mouth started blocking my vision but I could tell how Lo'ak felt. 

The funeral didn't last long but Jake and Neytiri had gone to see Neteyam at the spirit tree. I was inside talking with Kiri and Spider, Lo'ak sat outside the Mauri slouched over the edge of the walkway "Yea I never got to formally introduce myself I'm Y/N" I said as I looked over at Spider "Yea nice to meet you Y/N I'm Spider" the boy chuckled as he nodded in my direction, I looked over to the boy that sat outside I wanted to make sure he was ok "hey I'll be right back I'm just gonna check on Lo'ak" I spoke getting up from my spot "Hey Lo" I whispered sitting down next to him. I placed my head on his shoulder and he was quick to put his head on top of mine "I'm sorry Lo'ak" I whispered as I looked out at the vast ocean "it's not your fault Y/N" He said as he looked down at me. I stayed quiet for a little before speaking up again "I know I just can't help but feel like if we had gone a little later that he would've been fine or maybe if I listened to him he would've been alive" I said looking down at my feet "It's just I feel like I failed everyone" I was tearing up for the millionth time today "But you didn't Y/N" Lo'ak said as he hugged me "Y/N you are the best thing that happened for him and my family you're like an older sibling for everyone and mum and dad think you're like their child you have done nothing but bring happiness to this family and me especially I love having you around you are like the new Neteyam in a way" Lo'ak said, letting go of me "I don't think anyone could replace Neteyam Lo but thank you I feel honored" I said as I wiped the tears from my face a smile creeping on my face "Love ya big sis" Lo'ak said as he swong his arm over my shoulder "Love ya lil bro" I chuckled as we started laughing together, that was the first time I had heard him laugh since Neteyam's death.
