Chapter 4: ❤️ April POV ❤️

"I can't wait until the race." The siren's hyped as they exit the building after their cheer meeting. "It's gonna be a good time!"
Ray nods, "I'm nervous." She admits. April isn't surprised in the least. The ravenette's been going to LSU for years, but she hadn't been out much. April came here the same year as Ray, and she had tons of friends and memories and experiences she could talk about for days. Ray, on the other hand, was more reserved and introverted.
Mainly due to the fact that for her entire uni career, Ray's lived about 50 minutes (with light traffic) away, commuting to LSU. She didn't stay around long enough to gain deep friendships with others either.
Hell, it took April a few months to even get her to say more than three words to her, and they had a shit ton of classes together. She persuaded the girl to join the squad with her in the summer after freshmen year. It took a lot of convincing, but that's her specialty.
When she joined the squad, she only went to games, always went home as soon as it was over, and never stayed for the afterparties. The ravenette gets along okay with most people on the squad but she's not on close friend levels like with April and Autumn. She came to all practices but normally kept to herself or the two gorls.
They never had to worry about championships since JV squad (freshmen and sophomore) didn't do many out of city ones. And then in junior year, the squad hadn't made it to the championship due to some issues at the school.
"I know you are but I feel like this is going to be good for you." The redhead grips Ray's arm as they make their way to the parking lot. "This is one step closer to getting to know some of the boys. It can help you decide if this is really what you want. This could be a shot of getting your home."
Ray smiles at April, "I hope so. I am already super close to you, Mari, and Autumn but I want to get closer. I want to get to know the boys as well but obviously they are the most nerve-wrecking to meet."
"And they will be the hardest to build a connection with." April tells her honestly. She still struggled to connect with everyone in the gang. She got lucky on her instant connection with K and built a strong connection with Randy, Taco, Curtis fairly quickly. She knew that she was lucky and was thankful everyday for it.
In the distance, she notices Randy and Ramee walking over to a dark, cherry red Benz she's never seen before. She's already aware that they would be at the school. Ramee had some last minute shit he wanted to do before classes officially started, and Randy came along cause he had his own bit of fun to do.
It's not her first time seeing him since the first meeting a few days ago. After all, they are in the same gang so he's seen often in Little Seoul. But to say they actually talked or acknowledged each other...well.
Honestly, she still had many obstacles to go through. She still had goals she needed to accomplish. The siren wanted to secure her place in the gang in her own eyes. She wanted to make herself proud and prove to everyone that she was more than a pretty face. She wanted to be of the utmost use to K and make him proud. She wanted K, the one who had given her a true home, a true family, to look at her and feel relieved that he'd chosen the right person.
The siren never expected getting along with anyone in the gang would turn out to be an obstacle since she's so good at getting along with everyone. But from the looks of it, the hardest obstacle currently may be Ramee.
Her fucking mentor.
Who hadn't even tried to meet her one on one yet.
She sighs, and looks away with a pout.
