Awake

Leo pov:

It's been 3 days since Casey's gone to the hospital and I'm starting to worry.

April says he's fine, just not awake yet.

Raph's barely come out of his room.

And, what really concerns me...

Amy and Donnie.

They've both been putting on smiles for the other, then sobbing in their rooms at night until early in the morning.

Today is Saturday, though, so they might be able to hang out and figure out the other's real feelings on the matter.

The rest of us are fine... Even though we've barely spoken to one another since Casey got put in the hospital.

*T-phone ringer here*

"... April?" I ask to myself, then picked the phone.

"He's awake!" She yelled before I could say hello.

"Wait, really?... Casey's awake?!" I yelled.

"Yeah, he woke up this morning, we're picking him up right now! Don't tell the others, we all want it to be a surprise. Casey included." She tells me.

"I'll gather the others for "family bonding" and see you here!" I smile for the first time in a while.

We hang up and I put together a last minute movie/show marathon, letting the others choose. Splinter was convinced to learn more about what we "feed our minds in times of peace".

That's an interesting way of saying that he wants to know what we watch.

I was able to keep everyone, including Amy, entertained. Then, April texted me.

'We're here, just outside the lair. Will we surprise them?'

'Definitely, they don't know a thing.'

April and I texted each other.

April and Casey then walked as quietly as possible behind the couch.

"Hey guys." Casey said warmly, making everyone jump and snap their heads back.

Donnie, Amy, and Raph almost instantly pulled him into a big hug, Amy being the closest to him. Casey giggled a bit before returning the gesture.

"Mama, please don't do that again!" Amy yelled. His face soured.

The hug broke apart and he looked Amy in the eye.

"I can't control if I have another draw-back... Amy, I was hiding something from you. I'm not healthy, even at my healthiest. I've been sick for a year longer than you have been alive, these are just the side effects that were delayed for some reason, this illness will kill me... Just not any time soon." He told her seriously, smiling at the end of his statement.

She teared up and hugged her brother tightly.

"Amy! Too tight!" He yelled hoarsely, she loosened her grip.

Donnie chuckled and kissed Casey on the forehead, avoiding the nine year old attached to his lover.

"Like I said before, Casey, you're the strongest person I know. You'll beat this illness out of pure spite." Donnie told Casey, pressing their foreheads together gently now, joking a bit while trying to stay positive.

The following silence was warm and happy.

It took a few minutes for something to break it, Casey remembering something obviously important, his face showed he felt terrible for something.

"Wait, I was asleep for three days!" He yelled.

"... Yeah...?... Are you just figuring that out?" Raph asked hesitantly.

"Donnie, the lawyer! I was supposed to go yesterday!" He yelled. Donnie's face paled.

"Shit!" Casey yelled.

"What lawyer?" Splinter asked Casey.

"... It's for his biological family's wills. Casey told him hours before he got sick that he'd meet him yesterday." Donnie semi calmly explained.

He then turned to his panicking partner and took his hands into his own, Amy finally letting go of her brother.

"Rest for, at least, today. You just woke up from a three day coma, you need to let it be until tomorrow. First thing in the morning, call him and arrange a new date for you to sign the paperwork." He told Casey.

Casey took a deep breath and looked Donnie in the eyes.

"Thank you, I needed that." Casey told him before kissing, what April calls, his snoot.

I laugh a little under my breath as I see my little brother get red faced from the simple and sweet gesture.

I can tell the two of them will go far, relationship wise, maybe even getting married in the future.

They're so happy with one another and just by the way they act together, even before they got together, it was obvious that this was going to happen one day with how close they are.

Casey lead the two of them down to the couch and set Donnie down, sitting on top of him to cuddle my younger brother. We could all hear hums and churs of contentment.

We played the show we were watching again, letting us keep some dignity as we snuck glances, or in April's case, photos of the adorable couple.

At some point, I heard Casey whisper something and a moment later, Donnie took Casey to his lab.

We all knew that Casey must be drained, so we all just let them go, continuing to watch the random shows and movies till late at night, falling asleep at our spots in the living room.

Donnie pov:

I had taken Casey to my lab to his request, he told me he wanted to talk about something important if we are to grow as a couple.

I set him on the bed so I could get comfortable cuddling him after we have this talk, standing in front of him. He looked very uncomfortable and nervous.

His hands were shaking and he was looking at the floor, like he had done something wrong. Something was obviously very wrong.

"What did you want to talk about, mí amor?" I asked him, he blushed at the Spanish nickname.

{Mí amor means my love in Spanish for those who don't know}

"I-I... I need t-to... *Deep breath*... I need to talk about the rest of my past." He tells me, getting more and more anxious by the second.

I put a hand his.

"Take your time." I tell him.

"... Donnie... It's about the adoption center... And my time there."
