Shinobu is a religious girl in an arranged relationship with Douma, who is the head of the church. Shinobu hates this, and while on a walk, finds an outcast, Giyuu. And so, begins a battle of who is more worthy of her hand in marriage and whether Shinobu is willing to submit to sin, or if she is a pure woman to "god".

After Kotoha murdered her husband, she's promptly sentenced to life in prison and has her son ripped away from her. Fearing the worst for her son, she begs a guard to see her son one last time. And as she tearfully bids her son goodbye, she's suddenly been let free and all charges have been dropped. Thankfully, an infamous con man paid for her bond and only asks for two things in exchange.
Her hand in marriage, and all of her money once she passes.
