ALL THIS TIME, what Kxilyä thought was a normal, cute humour between her and Lo'ak, turned out to be flirting. Kxilyä caught that word up from Tuk.
As her and Palla made their way back towards Lo'ak and Yorì, lost in conversation about god knows what, Kxilyä fell in a silence. She was leaning against the railing, the conversations around her erupting into loudness, making it hard to hear. Palla, Yorì, and Lo'ak were talking, but she couldn't make out the words.
She was zoned out, staring at the floor as her mind wandered about her and Lo'ak. Was she really that clueless? All this time, and she still didnt figure out about his feelings, or her feelings. She thought it was normal.
She thought it was normal to look at your best friend like that. To crave his touch, to panic at his words, to crave his attention and his thoughts. But her reality settled in. She liked Lo'ak, in a different way then what best friends are like.
She furrowed her eyebrows as she thought. But after a second, she felt a small tap on her shoulder, making her jump as she turned to the person trying to get her attention. It was Lo'ak.
He leaned his head towards her ear, whispering- ' Are you okay? You're acting weird. '
Kxilyä hesitated, but nodded. ' I'm okay. I'm fine. ' She said in a choked voice. Lo'ak gave her a look.
' Do you want to get out of here? ' He spoke softly, grabbing the hand that was anxiously picking at her nails. She could hear her heart patter, like it was in her ears.
They'd held hands before. They often did. But this time, it felt different and more intimate. She caught her breath, as she turned to gaze up to him. He spoke again, but she couldn't make out his words as she held eye contact with the boy.
This feeling was familiar, however she never thought it was attraction. She studied his features, his bright yellow eyes, the freckles on his cheeks, his lips which looked so soft, and appealing. She sucked in a breath. ' What'd you say? '
A smirk appeared on the lips she was staring at. ' Are you too busy checking me out to hear what I'm saying? ' He smiled.
She grimaced, feeling her cheeks heat up in embarrassment. ' No. ' She said simply. ' Let's just get out of here. '
She ripped her gaze away, her heart pounding as she turned and walked towards the walkways. Lo'ak staggered behind her, before finally catching up beside her.
' What's wrong? ' He asked, walking slightly infront so their faces were parallel to eachother.
' Nothing. I'm fine. ' She shrugged, the lie seeping through her teeth as she felt a sour taste in her mouth. Lo'ak raised a brow as they walked across the platforms, and as the chatter from the platform slowly went quiet. ' Seriously. ' Kixlyä raised her eyebrows.
He stopped her in her tracks, as he held a hand on her chest to stop her from moving father. ' Kxilyä, I know when somethings off about you. You can't hide things from me. '
She huffed, frustrated. ' I'm okay. ' she said softly. She looked up at him through her eyebrows, letting out a sigh.
They remained like that for a couple seconds. Lo'ak sucked in a breath, breaking eye contact as he looked at the ground. ' Don't look at me like that. ' He said in a choked voice.
An electric feeling coursed through her. ' Like what? ' She spoke innocently, as Lo'aks hand dragged off of her.
He stayed silent, before taking in a shaky breath. ' Uhm, whatever, it's nothing. '
She raised a brow at him. ' Okay. ' She shrugged, pushing past him as she walked along the platforms. Lo'ak followed behind silently after hesitating in his spot, as they made their way towards their 'home' of some sorts.
