KXILYÄ'S POV

LO'AK HAD BEEN trying to talk to her all night. She didn't want to talk to him. She didn't know how to talk to him.

How could she approach this? What would she even say to him?

Lo'ak was still awake by the time Kxilyä had woken up. He sat on the dock, his legs curled into his chest. Kxilyä fought the urge to walk over and comfort him.

She simply stared at his back, leaning against the doorframe.

She'd been standing like that for an hour. Lo'ak never moved. He still remained in his lifeless state.

' Kxilyä? What are you doing up so early? ' Neteyam called, as he blinked his eyes to adjust to the light. Lo'ak snapped around, his eyes landing on Kxilyä's before she looked to the ground.

She walked back into the marui, taking a deep breath as she heard his footsteps run up behind her.

' Kxilyä, can I please just- ' He started.

Kxilyä forced her emotions down her throat, snapping around. ' No. Don't touch me, don't talk to me, just.. leave me alone. '

Lo'aks ears flopped down, his eyes pleading. ' Please. ' was all he could manage.

She let her mask slip for a split second. She needed to get out of there. She pushed past him, their shoulders knocking as she walked past, while she stepped out the marui.

She breathed in the fresh air, taking in deep breaths so she didn't ball up on the floor and cry her heart out.

She just wanted silence, away from the buzzing village. And so she did.

Kxilyä walked as far as her legs could, along the beach, up the rocks, anywhere she could go to distract her mind.

Anywhere away from Lo'ak.

It was pitch black where she went, and Kxilyä wasn't sure where she was. She'd been walking too long, zoned out, just thinking, that she didn't take mind at where she was going.

Kxilyä sat down on the beach, watching as the waves crashed against her feet while she jolted from the cold water.

Hesitantly, she rested her legs again, instead welcoming the coldness of the water. She thought about how Lo'ak was so insistant on talking to her.

He looked like the one that was heartbroken. How could he be hurt over it when he no longer loved her? Why was he so hurt over it all?

She never could figure it out. Different possibilities played in her mind, but none seemed to fit. She thought that she should have given him a chance to atleast explain himself.

Kxilyä tingled her fingers along the waters surface, taking in a deep breath before she sighed it out.

Her mind was overwhelmed by so much sadness. She missed the forest, and she missed Yorì and Palla.

She regretted leaving the forest.

If she stayed, she wouldn't have this much heartbreak. She wouldn't know about his feelings for Tsireya. She wouldn't care, because by then she'd have adjusted to the family being gone, and would think they are happy.

She blinked her eyes as a bright light shone on her, while she raised her arm to cover herself from the light.

' There she is! ' A voice called, as a massive ship came into view. She furrowed her eyebrows, standing up, before her face grew numb in realization.

It was the sky people's ship.

Multiple avatars landed on the sandy beach, guns in hand as they pointed them towards Kxilyä. She felt panicked, while she fumbled her hands for her knife.

' Put your hands up, or we'll shoot. ' one of them spoke, raising his gun.

She faltered, before abiding, her arms raising in the air. All she could think about was the family, and how she never even said goodbye or told them she was leaving for the night.

They'd be worried. She didn't want them to be worried.

' What do you want from here? ' Kxilyä called out, as they stalked up. Flashlights were pointed around the area, searching for anyone who could be hiding. ' I'm alone. There's no point. '

One of the avatars, a female, looked her up and down. ' Yeah right. ' she scowled, taking a step closer. ' Where are they? ' the woman whispered, as Kxilyä felt the cold metal of her gun touch her temple.

She sucked in a breath, her eyes widening. The woman pushed the gun further into her head, breaking her skin as a drop of blood streamed down her cheek.

Kxilyä winced, but she refused to show weakness. ' I already told you, I'm alone. ' Kxilyä repeated in a shaky voice.

The woman advanced on her, taking a step forward. ' Oh, you- ' she started, before Kxilyä took the chance, slamming her fist into the avatars face. She used the time the woman had been stunned to take the gun, aiming it towards the man beside her as she shot him in the head.

Blood splattered into her face, and all over her chest, while she heard shouting around her. ' Put the gun down! ' an avatar yelled, his hands resting on the trigger.

She turned, shooting the woman who was holding her at gunpoint earlier in the chest. The last thing she heard was the sound of a gunshot, followed by a blinding pain in her chest.

She let out a cry in pain, her hands reaching towards her chest as she staggered backwards.

' Are you insane? Quaritch will kill you if she dies! ' She heard, but the voice sounded distant.

Her vision went into splotches of red, as her lungs gasped for air. Blood streamed down into her hands, as she fell backwards into the rock.

' She killed two of us! What else- '

And then a peaceful silence, as her vision turned into nothingness.
