THINGS HAVE BEEN different with Lo'ak. Every since yesterday it seemed awkward between the two teens.

She didn't like when they were awkward. Kxilyä sighed, soaking in the view in front of her as she let her legs dangle over the edge of the branch. She leaned against the base of the tree, twirling and braiding her hair.

Kxi, her Ikran, cooed beside her as he jumped from tree to tree. She smiled, calling for him as he landed on the branch beside her. She tingled her hand along his head, smiling.

She sighed, longing to ride her Ikran. It had only been 3 days, but she missed the breeze while flying, and she missed her and Lo'ak's midnight flights to nowhere.

Her eyes trailed to the sky, her eyes skimming the night for her star. When she had thought she found it, she took a double take, but found a new, bright star, instead of the usual warm-coloured arrangement of stars.

She furrowed her eyebrows, standing up on the branch. A new star. But that could only mean..

' No. ' She gasped, a mixture of panic and anger flowing in her chest.

Sky people.

She had to warn her people. But she had to get there as quick as possible.

She grimaced, but slid onto the back of her Ikran, making the bond as she flew up from the tree and into the sky.

As she landed onto the platform infront of their home, she watched as Jake stalked out with a glaring stare.

' Kxilyä, I gave you one order, not to ride! ' Jake yelled, as she slipped off the Ikran.

' Wait, please! ' She puffed, as Kxi flew off. ' I was only visiting, I promise. I only rode because.. ' her face turned soft, panic swirling in her chest again. ' There is a new star. '

Jake's stern face turned soft, as he sucked in a breath. ' No. No, it can't be. ' He whispered, as he stalked back into the home. Kxilyä followed behind.

' Neytiri! ' He called, as Neytiri peeked her head up from her hammock. She jumped out the hammock, and into the platform, confusion and worry on her face.

' What is wrong, ma Jake? ' She spoke in a soft tone, placing a hand on his chest.

' The sky people. They are back. ' He choked out, as Neytiri's soft face turned cold. She hissed under her breath, her tail lashing behind her.

' It's okay. We are prepared. ' She said numbly.

' But the kids. It's going to be different with them. We can't lose them, Neytiri. ' His voice broke faintly, as Neytiri sighed and pulled him into a hug.

' It's okay. They will be okay. We'll just send the sky people back to where they came from like last time. ' Neytiri reassured, her eyes closing as they stayed in the position for a long while.

Kxilyä stayed zoned out, her face pained and numb. She didn't know how to think, how to feel. The sky people had taken everything she loved, her family.

' We'll tell the kids. ' Neytiri whispered, as her eyes trailed to Kxilyä. ' Are you okay, Kxilyä? ' She spoke softly.

Kxilyä didn't respond. She didn't know how to, or how to feel about this.

' Jake, go get Lo'ak. ' She whispered into Jake's ear, as he nodded, walking off. Neytiri walked over, standing next to her in silence as they leaned against the wall.

She had no thoughts, no feelings, just silence in her head. Slowly, Neytiri disappeared, and was replaced by Lo'ak. He sighed, knowing she'd like silence. He pulled her closer, his hand wrapped around her waist as she leaned her head against his shoulder. They stayed like that for a while, silent as she could hear his heartbeat and his balanced breaths.

' I cant do it, Lo'ak. ' She finally said in a whisper. ' I can't face Quaritch. '

Kxilyä grasped one of his braids, twiddling it in her hands as Lo'ak let out a sigh. He placed a kiss on the side of her head, nuzzling his head into her hair.' I know. ' He mumbled, ' I know. ' He repeated, as she leaned more into him.

A tear rolled down her cheek, as she felt herself turn numb once again.

He peeled off of her, resting his hands on her shoulders. ' It's going to be hard. But you need to push through, for your people, for your family. ' He whispered, his eyes flicking between hers.

She stared blankly into his eyes with no response. ' I cant. He murdered my parents and destroyed me. ' She choked out.

He placed a delicate hand on her chest, on her heart. ' Strong heart, Kxilyä. '

She sucked in a breath, another tear rolling down her cheek as Lo'ak wiped it away with the back of his hand. Tears clouded her vision, as she gave up, her body shaking with sobs. He exhaled, pulling her into a hug as she sobbed against his chest.

Lo'ak brushed her hair out of her face, whispering reassuring words into her ear as she shake in his arms.

' Kxilyä, are you- ' Tuk's chiming voice started, before Neteyam grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back, shaking his head slightly. When she noticed the entire family was watching, she pulled back, forcing her cries down her throat as she wiped her face of her tears.

Lo'ak grumbled under his breath, protesting quietly about how they always ruin everything. He stepped in front of her view. ' Will you be okay? ' He spoke softly.

' Yeah. Im fine. ' She said quickly, giving him a brief smile as she walked over to the family. Lo'ak had know that she was lying simply because the rest of the family was there. He followed, his tail lashing faintly behind him.

Neytiri gave him a sympathetic look, before turning her attention to Kxilyä. She pulled her into a hug, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she let her go.

' We'll send them back. ' She reassured, ' before you know it. '

Kxilyä nodded. ' I know. ' she gave a fake smile.

' Come on, they won't be back until another day. For now, get some rest. ' Neytiri spoke softly. ' Come, Tuk. ' She ushered Tuk as she groaned.

' But why!? ' She whined, but huffed and walked back towards the hammocks. Kxilyä jumped onto the branch, walking effortlessly across it as she jumped down onto her hammock.

When the area had gone into silence, she brushed her hair with her fingers while she let her mind wander.

Quaritch had to have found a way to come back. She could feel it in her bones. But she would not let him see her vulnerable.

Kxilyä would kill him again, just like Neytiri had done before.
