LO'AK

Kxilyä dissapeared a couple hours ago. He begun to worry. But he knew Kxilyä only needed time, and so he would give her it.

He wanted to explain the whole situation to her, but everytime he tried to talk to her she pushed him away. She needed to know the truth about the situation.

She'd been gone for 3 hours exactly. He counted. Lo'ak returned back to the dock, his legs simply dangling in the water. It was still midnight and the stars still shone in the sky.

He smiled as his eyes landed on lor atan, Kxilyä's mothers star. Lo'ak looked back down at his hands, which were fidgeting with a string on his loincloth.

' Lo'ak, you're still up? ' Neteyam spoke in a raspy, tired voice, as he sat next to him. Lo'ak didn't answer. ' I know I'm mad at you, but you're still my brother, and I still care about you. '

Lo'ak took in a deep breath, straightening his posture. ' Kxilyä left a couple hours ago. I'm not sleeping until I know she's back. ' Lo'ak responded simply.

Silence followed.

' Why'd you do it, Lo'ak? ' Neteyam's voice hardened.

' I didn't want to do it. ' He turned to Neteyam, ' Tsireya kissed me. After that, I knew I wasn't going to talk to Tsireya anymore, but Kxilyä just.. showed up. '

Lo'ak felt the weight rise off his chest, happy that somebody had finally listened to him.

Neteyam's gaze softened. ' Oh, brother. ' He spoke softly, his hand squeezing Lo'aks shoulder.

' I should've- I should've-.. ' Lo'ak stuttered, his voice choked, while a tear strolled down his cheek. ' I broke her heart, Neteyam. '

Neteyam gave him a sympathetic look, his eyes glowing in the night. He wrapped his arm around Lo'ak's shoulder. ' It's not your fault. ' he spoke faintly.

' But it is. I let Tsireya think what she did. I should've cut it off. I hurt both of them. ' He took a deep breath, his voice hitching. ' I haven't talked to Tsireya. But I left on bad terms. '

' What does bad terms mean? ' Neteyam asked curiously.

' I.. I cussed her out. I yelled at her. I don't remember what I said. ' Lo'ak spoke, his voice only a whisper. ' She told me that she doesn't react well to yelling. '

' You had every right to be mad at her. ' Neteyam shook his shoulder, ' don't beat yourself up over it. '

Lo'ak but the inside of his lip, staring down at the water as he kicked his feet aggressively. The two went silent.

The only sounds you could hear is the faint crackle of a fire, and the sounds of waves, aswell as creatures in the ocean in the distance.

Then, he heard a gunshot. His ears pricked up, as he shot up, standing. And another one.

' What? What's wrong? ' Neteyam stood up after him, as he gave him a confused look.

' Gunshot. ' was all he could say, before his mind wandered into his thoughts.

What if it was Kxilyä? What if she was hurt?
