Chapter 2
"Good morning, Noah, ready for the meeting later?" Lucy hands me a cup of coffee as she sips on her own mug of caffeine.
"I love you, Lucy, but you will never be able to turn me into a coffee person," I sip on the warm beverage despite my words, grateful for the thoughtfulness that went behind it, "thank you,"
She chuckles, "a girl can try,"
"You'll be at the meeting too, right?"
"Of course," she spins around in the nearby chair she just snatched, "I heard Alexis isn't the only one gaining the media's attraction lately,"
"What do you mean?" I halt my typing to turn toward the gossip lover.
"The girl's manager was seen in some of her pictures during her latest trip to Europe and people are falling in love," she pulls out her phone to show me an image, "darn, forgot to charge my phone last night, better do that before the meeting starts," she waves the black screen in front of me as she stalks off to her adjacent cubicle and I turn back to focus on some last minute changes the editorial team decided to do before this morning's upload.
Two hours later, the work phone rings letting me know that our guests have arrived and are on their way up for our discussions. I race to the break room to get myself some tea and smooth out my suit before heading back to my desk to grab my necessities.
Lucy and I nearly bump into each other in our rush to make it to the room on time and thankfully get to the nearly empty room in the nick of time as we hear the sound of an elevator ding nearby.
We place our things down, putting on our professional face as we find our seats and try to catch our breaths as subtly as possible. Our much needed managers for this process sitting closer to the head of the table as we sit in the middle areas of the oval-shaped glass surface. Our eccentric media team leader is currently skimming through a pile of papers, wrapping his shimmering blue scarf around his neck as it falls over his papers.
Sarah, our department's boss if you will, gets off the phone and points in my general direction, causing me to imitate the gesture with my own index finger. "Yes, you, can you please go get them, apparently they got lost in one of the hallways," she shifts around in her seat, crossing her legs beneath the table.
"Sure," I stand up, resisting the urge to tell her off for pointing at me instead of simply using my name, knowing better than to try and get on her bad side this early in the morning.
I take a few turns around the various office spaces, eventually deciding to try the floor beneath us as people often confuse the two as they have similar names on the map downstairs, thankfully, coming across Alexis' familiar face after weaving through many corridors and offices.
"Alexis?" I call out, drawing a many pairs of eyes in my direction from both the company and her team. I duck my head and hear footsteps nearing me as I meet them halfway. I met her last time she came here in person already and she insisted I call her by her first name. She's absolutely gorgeous in her pictures but breathtaking in person. Her dark skin is mesmerizing and her light brown eyes are a perfect harmony. Her curls are defined to absolute perfection to the point where she was practically forced to share her hair care routine a few weeks ago due to the high demand she got online, and her smile is so welcoming that she's been virtually crowned by many for being the most genuine model out there.
"Noah!" And their assumptions would be correct; seeing as from what I can tell so far, she's actually very sweet.
"Hi, Alexis," she pulls me into a brief hug, taking me in by surprise before wrapping my arms around her carefully.
