9:20 am December 5th"I can't believe I'm going to go to class like this" Nina groans as the walk to room 304. "If it makes you feel any better its the last class before the big winter break" he says.
"No, no it does not"
They walk in, Nini walks to her usual window seat in the front left corner quietly sitting down. Ricky follows, deciding to sit next to her. The lecture hall is almost full, light chattering across the room, there are about thirty students.
Chris walks in, the class immediately goes quiet, everyone swiftly settling down and taking their seats. Chris has her hair up in a bun, she places bundles of papers neatly onto the desk then turns to the class. "Good morning everyone, this should be quick" she says. She lets her gaze shift to Nini and Ricky for a moment, raising her eyebrows at the pajamas Nini's wearing confused. She brings her attention back to the class.
"Alright, as you all know the program is on winter break as of Saturday, I appreciate you all coming in today. As some of you know, at the end of the program, projects presented by the class are considered for grant selections, a maximum of two projects make it in on an average. The presentations for opening proposals begin in early spring on a strict timetable." she addresses the class.
"Okay ground rules, you are babies, fetuses, infant scientists, infant astronauts! this project has to either have one scientist from atleast 2 of the tech and research labs or have signed approval from them. Do not, and I really mean this, underestimate the difficulty of this project. This is a list of guidelines in detail, read through ALL of it" she says walking through the class and placing sheets of paper in front of each student. "This project may be done in pairs, maximum a group of three; I do not recommend doing it alone, after the spring presentations, up to eight projects are chosen from the class to receive minimal funding to build up the project while they continue with the 2-year training program, at the end out of all projects proposed up to 2 will be selected; you may choose to continue or build on a pre-existent project if you can issue rights." She further explains details of the grant and how this new system works.
"Remember class, this is a very big opportunity, especially for trainees, make good use of it. This is a rigorous program, not everyone makes it through. That is all for the project grants."
"Now returning to my class, 2 papers are to be turned in at the end of break and practical tests will be in February" she announces as everyone groans. "Before you head out collect your holiday homework binders and grant details from my desk, there's 20 minutes remaining, if you have any questions now would be the time to ask"
A few students raise questions, Chris answers them with ease before settling at her desk up front. Everyone is occupied with some work, waiting for the class to end. Ricky and Nini mind-map ideas onto Ricky's iPad, talking about different files they had found earlier is Elizabeth's office. Christina stands up, quietly walking around the class, she halts at their table, smiling at their notes on the iPad. "Hey Cici" Ricky says, only to be ignored.
"Roberts, didn't you go to Dartmouth?" She asks looking at Nini's Stanford sweatshirt, which instantly flusters her.
"Uh yeah, yeah I did, just a sweatshirt" she lets out a nervous chuckle. Cici purses her lips, trying not to laugh, she walks away.
"Just a sweatshirt, wow I'm offended" he says cheekily. "shut up douchebag"
