"Ev, I've decided you're going to meet my mom." Nolan draped his arm over my shoulder. I twisted my head to the left, and up to smile at him. School was just ending.

"Alright, when?" I'm a little surprised he hasn't asked me to meet his mother before. I mean we're practically best friends, and I haven't even been to his house.

"Tomorrow night?"

"Can't, I have a date." I pouted up at him.

"With who? I'm so glad you decided to leave Owen in the dust. You're too good for him." Connor grunted in agreement from the other side of Nolan.

"The dates with Owen." I deadpanned. Of course if they knew my little secret, they'd know Owen was actually too good for me. I inwardly started laughing when Nolan and Connor had matching sheepish smiles.

"Well have fun with that." Nolan let out an awkward laugh.

"I probably will." I rolled my eyes. Nolan so did not agree with Owen and I. Hopefully, he'll come around to it.

"Well, anyways back to the real problem. My mom has a pretty hectic schedule as a doctor. I'd really like you to meet her before she gets super busy again." Nolan pouted.

"Well, I'm free right now. Is she home?"

"Just our luck, she is!" Nolan grabbed my hand and started dragging me to his car. Connor kept up a few paces behind us. Once we were seated, Nolan started the car. Trap Queen by Fetty Wap blasted through the speakers causing Connor to smile lazily while I burst out laughing.

"I so did not expect you to listen to this kind of music!" The sassy, but timid Nolan was always full of surprises.

"What can I say? I'm a gangster in disguise." He sent me a cheeky smile from the driver seat. As the song played on, I tapped to the beat on the back of Connor's seat. He turned around and scowled at me.

"Quit it."

"Make me." I stuck my tongue out at him childishly.

"My dad used to teach me how to street fight. He said the best way to win was the make it where the opponent couldn't fight back. I can break those hands of yours fifteen different ways." Connor sent me a serious look.

"I doubt that's true." I scoffed.

"Wanna test that theory?" He smirked.

"Not really. I mean I doubt you can break a hand in fifteen different ways, but I'm sure you can still break a hand." I shuddered. I bet I could break a hand too.

"That's what I thought, so keep your hands to yourself." Connor smiled his usual goofy smile.

"Whatever, the song's over anyways." I mumbled under my breath and crossed my arms.

Twenty minutes passed, which consisted of Nolan and I singing along to pop songs, and Connor covering his ears.

"We're here!" Nolan announced, as we pulled into a spacious driveway.

The house was modern, and big. The whole thing was made of glass, so there were no trees in the yard. However, that made the lake in the back become even more prominent. I looked through the glass and could vaguely make out modern décor as well.

"How do you get changed or shower if everyone can see you?" I turned to Nolan with a slightly disturbed look on my face.

"You can press a button and the shutters of that room will close, and there's a shower curtain in the bathroom." Nolan rolled his eyes, and exited the car. Connor was the next to get out, so I followed suit.

We walked up to the front door, and Nolan opened it. Once we were safely indoors, Nolan called out for his mom. She came around the corner, and I wasn't prepared for what I saw. There stood Nolan's mother covered in flour, but that wasn't what shocked me. No, it was the fact that the woman standing before me was the same woman who spent that last year working on curing my heart condition. Nolan's mom was my doctor.

And the shit was about to hit the fan.
