“I’m just a kid and life is a nightmare. I’m just a kid; I know it’s not fair. Nobody cares, cause I’m alone and the world is having more fun than me.” I’ve been singing ‘Just a Kid’ by Simple Plan for the past five hours straight. It’s been two days since my parents went insane and banned me from school.
It’s been my life goal ever since to make their life hell until they give into my demands. Yes, I’m aware it’s immature, but I’m honestly out of civilized ideas to change their minds. I was enrolled into online schooling yesterday, but I refuse to do any work. I’ve been singing songs that are ironic to my situation instead.
“Geez, way to be overdramatic, Eve.” Nolan spoke, which caused me to scream at the top of my lungs and jump off of my bed and onto the floor.
“Don’t creep up on me like that!” I placed a hand over my chest. My poor heart almost pissed itself.
“Sorry.” He gave me a sheepish smile and made his way over to me. Following him was Connor.
“Connie!” I stood up and practically threw myself at him. He was like my big teddy bear. I missed my second best friend. Despite that Connor was partially to blame for my freak out the other day, he’s still a really great guy. He just has a lot of stuff to work out.
“Of course he gets the happy welcoming.” Nolan mumbled under his breath. I kind of wonder if Nolan knew that I knew about his friends with benefits situation.
“He didn’t almost give me a heart attack.” I sent Nolan a faux glare.
“Alright you two, settle down now.” Connor chuckled.
“What are y’all doing here, anyways?” I went into my closet and grabbed a jacket to cover my almost see through tank top. I was still in my very provocative pajamas. My outfit was another way to upset my parents. They wanted me to dress way more conservative.
“Your brother actually invited us over. Owen had baseball practice, so he’ll be here later.” Connor was playing with one of my picture collages when I walked out of the closet.
“Why?”
“He’s worried about you. Apparently, you got pulled out of school and didn’t even tell us!” Nolan pouted at me.
“My parents are so over protective. I’ll be back, though.”
“We’re actually here to convince you to do online schooling.” Connor gave me a sheepish look.
“Fuck that! I’ve done the home schooling thing. I just want to be a normal teenager.”
“Normal teenagers don’t walk twenty miles to their crush’s dentist’s office.” Nolan teased.
“Shut up!” My cheeks heated up.
“Not doing any school work isn’t good for you, Ev.” Connor interrupted what would have been a teasing match between Nolan and myself.
“I might be doing the whole teenager thing wrong right now, but I need to be able to make my own mistakes. Taking me out of school because I did one thing wrong isn’t going to benefit me at all. I need to experience life outside of this damn house.”
“You did a stupid thing, Evelyn. We’re not your parents so we can’t decide what your punishment is, but I do think that some disciplinary action is necessary.” Nolan explained.
“They’re being overdramatic about it all.” I whined.
“That’s not for us to decide, Evie.” Connor sent me a sympathetic smile.
“Parents are the worst.” I frowned at the two boys. I could see how I was being over dramatic about it all, but my parents were being worse. I didn’t need to be babied anymore.
“But you gotta love them.” Nolan smiled at me.
“No.” I mumbled under my breath.
“Evelyn, you’re such a drama queen.” Connor laughed.
“What’s up with you two?” I asked. I wanted to see if Connor had told Nolan that he blabbed to me.
“Nothing.” They both spoke at the same time, only Nolan blushed and Connor scratched the back of his neck. They’re so cute!
“Please, I know something’s up, so spill!”
“Nothings new or interesting with me.” Nolan was the first to speak and by his self this time.
“Please, you’re sleeping with Connor and that’s interesting!” I smiled at him.
“You told her?!” Nolan practically yelled at Connor, so he didn’t tell Nolan about his slip up.
“It just slipped out, I’m sorry. Besides, I’m the one who wanted it to be kept a secret.”
“She’s my best friend! I wanted to tell her.” Nolan clenched his fists.
“I’m sorry! It was word vomit.” Connor frowned at Nolan. He really looked apologetic.
“You can’t just use that as an excuse. How would you like it if I told Owen that we screw when he’s at football practice?”
“Wait, you guys do what?!” Owen practically yelled, and that’s when shit hit the fan.
Oh snap, the secret is out. And Evelyn didn't spill it ;)
