"Reign, babe, I want to tell my dad about us tomorrow," Skye told me as we lay naked together in bed on Saturday morning. "I don't want to hide this from him anymore. The bar is sold and he can't do anything but throw a tantrum." She was currently laying on my chest, and tracing circles on my belly, which she knew I liked. Hell, any time she touched me I liked it. We'd spent a lazy morning having a light breakfast in bed before showers and brushing our teeth, and now was just snuggle time. I had a great dinner planned, but in the meantime the day was ours to just relax together.

"Are you sure? It isn't going to be too much?" I don't think there was anything that he could do to affect her other than being a pain in the ass, but it was still stressful on a weekend that I was planning on treating her to a wonderful meal and giving her the ring I'd finally picked up. Once I got the call that it was ready, it took almost every ounce of self control I had to not race there and get it.

"Nope. If anything, it will be an hour of pain for years of less stress. Besides, having you will help, and it will make it easier to get my mom involved in our life," she explained.

"How will that help your mom?"

She snorted. "He's very petty, and still hates her. He always keeps an eye on the family social media, and so I never mentioned anything to her about the engagement or you because I didn't want him to find out that way."

That made sense, now that I thought about it. I knew she loved and missed her mom, and I'd thought about asking if we could meet her. Now I understand why she'd never brought it up. "So, with the bar sold, you can do whatever you like?"

"Yep. He'll be an asshole when I tell him, and probably scream and yell at me, but there isn't too much else he can do. Before I sold it, he could have talked to liquor suppliers to cut me off or talked to some of the other bars in the area to put pressure on me. I don't know if he really would, but I never felt like risking it based on how he'd treated my mom. But I have my degree now, studying is going well, I live with a woman I'm madly in love with, and I don't need him to keep being a thorn in my side."

"Hmmm, tell me about this woman you're madly in love with. I like the sound of that."

She lifted her head and looked up at me, pivoting to straddle me. "Well, she's this tall mocha goddess that makes me feel warm and loved every day. She is without a doubt the sexiest woman I've ever met, and when we're in bed together it makes my body feel things that I didn't even know were possible. She's sweet and kind, and strong as hell, and I can't wait till she says I do to me."

"Damn, sounds like you found a girl who's perfect for you. You know I can't wait for you to be mine either, right? You are truly a dream come true with everything that you've done for me. I still can't believe how much meeting you has changed my life for the better, and I'm beyond thrilled that you're mine." I lifted my arm, putting my hand underneath my pillow and finding the ring box that I'd snuck there earlier while we brushed our teeth. "But I don't want to see you naked."

"Excuse me?" she asked with a little scoff. "You love me naked!"

I pulled the ring box out, showing her the ring that I'd gotten her. "Yes, but I think you should have at least a ring on."

"You little shit!" she said breathlessly. "I can't believe you got that!"

"It's almost as gorgeous as you are." I pulled the ring out of the box, holding it gently out, and slid it onto her finger as she extended her hand. When I held her hand in mine, the contrast in our skin tones and the opposite rings made for a striking image.
