Class Trial In Session

As we all looked around at everyone standing at our podiums, I was busy cursing Monokuma and whoever thought it was a good idea for us to play this messed up game. I could see Fuyuhiko fidgiting, which made sense since most of the others were glaring at him. ¨W..why did you kkill R..antaro!¨ Toko stuttered, glaring daggers at Fuyuhiko. I sighed though when the former Yakuza flinched. This just wasn't right, and I knew something was bothering me about this. There was no way in heck I would believe Fuyuhiko would be the killer! Shuichi tried then to keep things from getting out of hand by starting the debate. ¨First,¨ he said, ¨We need to determine the murder weapon.¨ That's when Ryoma interrupted. ¨I think it's quite clear what the murder weapon is the dagger found at the crime scene, the one that belonged to Fuyuhiko.¨ ¨I'm not the culprit!¨ Fuyuhiko protested and an argument started. Maki pulled out a knife and threatened Ryoma with it, and I had a feeling this was going to get bad. This wasn't getting us anywhere! ¨I turned to Shuichi, who had a contemplative look on his face. ¨Kaito, do you remember something odd about the way we found the dagger? And that's when it hit me. Hifumi said, ¨The dagger must be the murder weapon since it was covered in blooood...¨

COUNTER!

¨Hold on a second!¨ I retorted. ¨From what Shuichi and I could see when we checked the crime scene, there was blood smeared on the dagger. Wouldn't it be really weird for the blood to be smeared like that if the dagger was what was used to kill Rantaro?¨ My sidekick agreed with me and Maki-roll joined in, knowing about different framing techniques for being an assasin so long. The three of us explained that from what could be gleaned from the crime scene, someone smeared blood on the dagger in order to frame Fuyuhiko for the crime. Thankfully Fuyuhiko was now cleared of suspicion, but we were back to square one, allthough the way the body was found hung like that gives another suspect in this case. I really hope it's not the case though, as that would be really horrible.

¨It could have been that Rantaro commited suicide,¨ I suggested and Shuichi nodded, though I could tell he wasn't convinced. Everyone immidietly glommed onto Rantaro being the culprit and a large debate started up, but something bothered me. ¨Mikan?¨ I asked to confirm something. ¨Are you sure that Rantaro was hanged?¨ Mikan shook her head, looking very flustered. ¨No, I don't. The bruises and scars left look a lot more like strangulation. ¨Yes,¨ Shuichi said. ¨From what I can tell, Rantaro was strangled, and then they hung his body up to look like a hanging. I could tell everyone looked unconvinced and I understood why. It was easiest to believe this was simply a suicide because no one wanted to accuse there friends of murder. I myself wanted to believe more than anything that none of my friends would do something like this. I don't want to lose another person. Unfortunately however, that's simply wishful thinking, and if we didn't find the culprit, everyone would die. Toko admitted that there was a blank spot in her memory, which was odd, but at the moment there was someone else who was a major suspect. Shuichi had reminded me of something that linked a certain someone to the murder. Byakuya said, ¨But there's nothing at the crime scene linking anyone else to the murdeeeeeer...¨

COUNTER!

¨That's not true Byakuya,¨ I shot back. ¨Shuichi, Fuyuhiko and I found a crumpled up paper at the scene, and that something was your secret.¨ Himiko gasped and everyone turned to look at Byakuya, who was becoming whiter by the minute. Toko then began yelling at me and cursing me, but my belief Byakuya had something to do with it only got worse as he stammered in a way very unlike him and attempted to defend himself. However, when Byakuya broke down and confessed, I had a hard time believing he was the culprit. He was definetely involved in the crime, but I no longer believed he committed the actual murder, as everything just felt weird. Shuichi then started conversing with Toko, who apparently had a blank spot in her memory during the time of the murder. Byakuya suddenly broke down in a way very unlike him, and said he had been so terrified of his secret being revealed that he had someone else kill Rantaro, and he felt like a terrible person. That's when I thought about the clues that would lead us to the culprit.
