Agni Kai

After accepting the conditions of the Agni Kai, Zhao had Zuko moved to a standard holding cell rather than the specialized one meant for extremely dangerous or mutinous fire benders. The young avatar thought little of it, but at least he was given a bowl of rice, some meat and a piece of bread as well as a small cup of tea to wash it down with. There are two Yuyan archers standing facing him at all times holding their bows out in front of them but not knocked. As he sipped the tea, he couldn't help but feel nostalgic for his uncle's brew. Though the tea made for him would suffice, safe to say the next time he and the rest of the gang were in town he'd make it a point to get some tea to make during their journey. Calmly eating the semi warm rice and fish he can't help but wonder how Aang and the others are handling. It's likely that Aang had already gone out on a similar route in order to find Zuko but the prince is concerned that Aang would get himself captured in the process of trying to rescue him.

After finishing the meal, Zuko slowly sips the tea he's been given by the guards. After polishing off the rest of the warm liquid. Zuko sets the overturned cup on his tray before sliding it back under the hatch. He walks over to the cot on the side of the cell before sitting and laying down. He lets his mind wander once more, wondering how his sister would have reacted to the news that Zuko was the avatar and not her. As they continue to wander, he ponders upon the idea of returning home a fully realized Avatar. Sure his father wants to use him as a weapon, but a part of him still believes that if he was to demonstrate his power his honor would be restored. That would be an interesting day he thought but his last thoughts before sleep were of his mother. Did she know he was the avatar? If she knew... Why did she leave?

"Prince Zuko." The stern voice of Colonel Shinu announces his presence. "The agni kai against Admiral Zhao is going to commence in one hour. I have brought you breakfast and I wanted to speak with you." The young avatar rises from his sleep before stretching upwards and breathing a small amount of fire to warm himself. He sits up before rubbing the tiredness from his eye and looking over at the aged colonel.

"Thank you for waking me Colonel." Zuko says as he stands up from his cot and walks over to the tray opening in his cell. "What did you want to talk about?"

"I am going to be honest, I wished to see a small demonstration of your abilities as a fledgling avatar. As well as tell you that a messenger hawk has arrived with a letter from your uncle. Zhao had sent a correspondence to him shortly after you were captured. Would you like to see it?" The colonel explains before showing Zuko a scroll that arrived.

"Sure, and tell those two to not shoot me while I show you the bending." Zuko requests, causing Shinu to lift a hand and dismiss the guards. Colonel Shinu takes a seat on one of the stools that the archers had as Zuko begins his short kata.

The display is brief, but Shinu watches intently as Zuko moves through a basic airbending form. Moving the air about the room and kicking up dust that had collected along the floor. He finishes the airbending by creating an air scooter and jumping on top of it. From Shinu's perspective he seems to be levitating in the dark cell and the older man is amazed. From there Zuko uses the little earthbending he knows to lift several short pillars and stones from the floor before dropping them back down. "Is that enough?" He asks, causing the colonel to nod at him.

"I'm impressed." The colonel states, almost speechless at the display. "Do you know how to bend water?" he asks but Zuko shakes his head.

"The only times I have, it's been a fluke. Once to save myself from drowning in the south pole and the other to stop an arrow aimed for my chest." Zuko replies before taking a seat on one of the raised pieces of stone and beginning to eat his breakfast.

"I'll go ahead and read you what General Iroh had sent." Shinu says before unraveling the scroll and clearing his throat. "Prince Zuko, from what Zhao had said in his letter you are in his custody. If this letter reaches you it's likely that youve talked him into dueling him in an Agni kai." Shinu begins which catches Zuko's attention.
