I smiled to myself as I picked up the boxes, my surprise impulsive order for Charles had finally arrived. It had been exactly a week since he had found Giada had cheated on him, and he had understandably been feeling down since. However, I knew that he needed a little push from me before he could begin to feel like his normal self again. Therefore, I'd made the somewhat impulsive decision to buy us both skateboards, a hobby that Charles had been wanting to try out for a while, but had never had the time due to his busy schedule.
"Charlie" I began as I entered the living room
"Olly" replied Charles, who was sitting on the sofa scrolling on his phone
"I brought us skateboards"
"You brought us..." Charles trailed off, processing what I had just said to him "You brought us what?"
"Skateboards!" I proudly exclaimed, holding out the boxes that had just been delivered
"Olivia Anne Thomas, what on earth are you thinking? Buying us skateboards? We can't even skate!"
"You always talk about wanting to learn to skateboard. So I brought some!" I said to him "I thought it'd be fun, plus you've spent the entire week inside. If you've not stolen my living space to train in, you've been sat on the sofa drowning in your sorrows. And Charlie, I'm really sorry if I'm being harsh, but I know that if I don't push you, you're just going to get worse. The season starts soon, and I know you want to be in the best state of mind before then. Both physically and mentally."
"You know me too well, Ol" sighed Charles, getting up from the sofa and sliding his phone into his trousers "Let's go skateboarding"

"I'm so useless at this" I sighed, looking at my skateboard in frustration
It was late in the evening, and Charles and I had been out trying to learn to skateboard all afternoon. So far, I'd only managed to balance on our board for a few meters before jumping off out of fear that I'd fall. Charles had got the hang of it a lot easier than me, finding balancing on the wooden board easy. Whilst he was getting the hang of going faster and trying out a few tricks, I kept begging to slow down, the small pushes he was giving me to start off being too fast for my non-existent skateboarding abilities. It turns out balancing on a board wasn't a talent I possessed.
"Ten more minutes?" Charles asked me "I've almost perfected this"
"Okay" I agreed "But I'm just going to watch, I'm tried"
Fifteen minutes later, and Charles still hadn't quite mastered going at the speed he wanted to.
"It's a sort of a slow sport" he concluded, sitting down next to me "I like it though. Not everything is about going fast, I guess"
"Glad I brought them now?" I questioned
"Very" he smiled at me "Now let's go home, I'm hungry"

"Everytime you cook, I think it's one of the best things I've tasted" said Charles "Then you cook something else and it tastes even better"
"Charlie, you're overexaggerating" I blushed, glad he was enjoying the meal we had prepared together, a beautiful rigatoni bolognese with Charles' fresh bread "But really, you did most of the work. Your hands may have been made for holding a steering wheel, but they were also made for kneading the perfect bread dough"
Charles laughed at my comment, smiling at me from across the table. "Only because I was taught by the best" he paused for a second to raise his glass of wine "To Emily, for teaching me how to make the perfect dough"
"To Emily" I said, raising my glass and clinking it against his "For having the patience to teach a teenage Charles who once had no interest in the art of cooking"
A/N: Hi everyone! Exams and coursework deadlines have left me super busy for the last few weeks (I really need to stop leaving stuff until the last minute 😬) which means I haven't had any time to write this book. As this is the last chapter I have written, I won't be uploading for the next 1-2 weeks so that I can actually get some words down under my currently blank chapter numbers.
If you haven't already, make sure to go and check out my new book titled 'Solace' ! I'll likely be updating that whilst I work on this book, as I already have a few chapters drafted for it.
