Today would be the day, the day you end the constant guilt you'd feel for killing dragons.

It was already nighttime and your mother was out with Gobber and Spitelout doing a patrol of the island, making sure dragons weren't around.

Your father was in the armoury with Sven trying to choose a new mace, his old one named Tulip had worn and you gave the suggestion of naming it Daisy.

Your brother was upstairs in his room reading the Book Of Dragons, he was allowed to take it home since Gobber said it was required for him to take on the dragon killing spirit.

You had prepared for the day after many months, you'd run to the end of the island and hide out there before boating to a different island entirely. It was a good thing that Bucket and Mulch taught you to sail and even have you a boat that could be used for voyaging.

You grabbed a basket and brought it down before running to your room and filling it up with the stash of mutton you had taken for yourself and, you kept it hidden for today.

You didn't pack water since you already had a source for it, on the boat you had.

You waited outside your went into your brothers room and huffed, he really wouldn't be able to comprehend it at such a young age but you better try.

"Hello!" Hiccup exclaimed

"Hi! Just a question, do you like dragons?" You asked

"Yeah! I don't get why dad would ever wanna hurt them." Hiccup admitted

"Well, I think you could totally change Berk someday. On that note, I'm gonna be taking a long trip to another island." You stated

"Will you come back? You might miss a bunch of holidays with me! And you need to become chief!" Hiccup said

You let out a pained smile but it was happy enough for Hiccup to believe.

"Actually, I think you'd make a way better chief than me so I'll be leaving for a while. But I promise you. I'll be back." You said

"Promise?" Hiccup asked

"Yeah! I'll be back! I'll see you again! You'll see me again! But you're gonna have to pull through for a while. Can you do that for me?" You promised

"Yeah!" Hiccup replied

"Good. Make sure to change Berk for me, for you. Don't let anyone stop that for you." You said

"I can do that!" Hiccup smiled

"Tell mom and dad that I love them. Even if I don't come back for a while never stop hoping to see me. I will be back to watch you change lives. This I swear, on my life." You said

Hiccup gave a thumbs up before you hugged him, he went back to reading carelessly and happily.

Pray you made it back once you were ready to go back.

You walked into your room and opened up a hatch that led onto the room and out came a baby dragon, black and red.

You called the species "Deathgripper" since it fit what you had studied. You called this one in particular Glaivedriver.

"Hi pal, why don't we get going?" You said

Glaivedriver roared happily before hopping into the basket and hiding under the mutton, you knew that Glaivedriver wasn't gonna eat the whole stash of mutton. He didn't exactly eat anything he was hiding in.

You carried the basket in your arms and went out the door, you left your helmet on the table and everything. You weren't going to bring much.

Outside you stared at your home before walking off, if you did die you'd be glad you got to tell your parents and brother you loved them.

You ran into the woods while holding the basket filled with mutton and Glaivedriver.

Glaivedriver roared happily and stuck his head out of the basket to look around.

"What island would you want? From my research you're carnivorous and will most likely eat things like Yak, livestock and maybe dragons." You stated

Glaivedriver screeched in the direction of the boat, how'd he remember? Must be a pretty good memory, you'd need to remember that.

You didn't mention it to Hiccup but you'd be taking the notebook you've been hiding from him, it's filled with sketches of Glaivedriver and things you knew he could do along with his diet, personality and how he reacts to certain things.

Glaivedriver roared once you reached the boat on the end of the island, you stepped onto it carefully. The sail was blank and you were happy about that. If they did find you it'd be pretty weird to try and hide, you had more of a chance with a blank sail.

You set the basket down and began to let down the sail, Glaivedriver seemed to be walking around and sniffing the boat to make sure that there weren't any stowaways.

Glaivedriver roared in excitement when the boat began to move, it wasn't much but you'd manage until you could find yourself a good island.

"Here Glaivedriver!" You said

You probably weren't gonna go off course, you were looking to reach the end of the archipelago or even past it.

You sat down crosslegged as Glaivedriver sat down in front of you.

You got out two pieces of mutton, for you and Glaivedriver to eat before you went to bed.

"I guess this is the start of a new life." You smiled

Glaivedriver shrieked happily before absolutely devouring his piece of mutton, you gave him another since he was actually a pretty hungry dragon with such a small body.

You finished your piece of mutton before getting up and throwing the bones into the water, yours still had meat which would feed a Scauldron.

"Let's go to bed." You stated

Glaivedriver roared compliantly before laying down in a barrel you had opened, since there were already blankets on the boat you were perfectly fine and comfy.

As comfy as you can get sleeping on wooden flooring with no pillow next to the sea filled with dragons, a little nerve racking since Scauldron's were quite dangerous dragons but you were sure you could handle it. Maybe.

If not Glaivedriver would, he was only a baby but killing a chicken you brought to him within seconds was a little promising to you and practically anyone else.
