Early in the morning, they left, with dew still glittering on the grass, as well as leaves, sparkling with the dim sunlight. The smell of midnight rain still hung in the air, the paths still wet. The fog was clearing, and the air warming up, the chill hiding in any shadow they could find. Birds chirping, they departed.
They traveled by foot until they reached Foothill Stable, then brought their horses along for the journey. They then turned around and went back, turning in an acute angle as they turned onto a different part of the trail.
Link snapped the reins in his hands, speeding his horse up a bit. Zelda was getting too far ahead, again. Either that or my horse is slow, he thought.
The wind whipping his face, he caught up with his friend.
"The tree palettes are changing," Zelda observed, glancing around. "They're all very warm colors now," she added, gesturing.
"Yeah," Link agreed, barely paying any attention, instead focusing on the large lab ahead, as well as keeping up. Maybe this horse wasn't the best choice for this travel. Even though he's trying to increase their bond, it's taking a while; maybe some apples will do the trick. The sun was setting, and the moon was rising, stars spreading out across the dark sky.
A chilly breeze awoke and flew past them, ruffling their hair. Link realized they needed to eat. "What do you want for dinner?" Steak, curry, simmered fruits...hmmm...., Link thought, filing through all the possible choices. Fish, grilled fish, monster rice balls, rice balls... he went on, waiting for a reply.
Zelda smiled. "Food, food, food...always food, huh?" Link looked away, rubbing the back of his neck, embarrassed. "I'm kidding, Link. Hm...I'm in the mood for a shrimp gratin," she said, looking up at the quickly-color-changing sky. [i understand there aren't any shrimps in this game, but hey- shrimp gratin is so. good.]
"Got it," Link said, mentally assorting through his inventory, thinking about all the ingredients he has, remembering the recipe and Zelda's preferences with food. Sorting his thoughts, he slowed his horse, lightly stepping off and digging though his pockets for parts of the meal. "Let's see..." he mumbled, tossing them in the pot in front of him.
The soft, warm, glow of the lanterns outside of the Akkala Tech Lab lit his senses. A soft bubble came from the pot as the water started to boil, and he added different spices, stirring it so the shrimp doesn't burn. Zelda watched with a small blush on her face as he tossed chopped onions into the pot with a determined face. After a few minutes, Link began to slow the stirring to let it soliditate a bit. Taking a small spoon, he took a taste of the sauce, and added a bit more spices.
After a bit, he served the gratin, still steaming with a shrimpy-cheesy aura that made Zelda's stomach yearn for food. After eating, they went inside to discuss some of the urgencies, and to see if they could fix anything. After that, it was time for bed.
It's funny how I'm saying it's their bedtime when it's 9:15AM right now for me :") another short chapter, hopefully I can do something next week that's more productive. I've been busy catching up on schoolwork (recent vacation) so I haven't had that much time, sorry!
