Abagail Chikako Vixen was originally from Kagoshima, Japan; which is a city by the sea. After she was one years old her family moved to Kalispell, Montana. Her mom was Japanese, and her dad was American. Her mom would always tell her Japanese folk lore, and the one she loved the most was about the Nine Tailed Fox Kitsune. Kitsune was a fox spirit native to Japan; who could shape shift, control fire and lightning, fly, create illusions, manifest in dreams, and if powerful enough bend space and time. She love to hear those stories.
Abagail was always a very happy girl, she could make anyone smile. But one day Abby's mom was diagnosed with Leukemia. Her family and friends were all worried. So was Abby but she never showed it, she hated to see people sad. The whole time her mom was sick, she made it her mission to make everyone smile. Even after the doctors said her mother had a week left to live, she never stopped smiling. But what people didn't know was on the inside she was dying. The day her mom died Abby was right there with her holding her mom and dad's hand and smiling. She was about 5 when her mom died.
At her funeral, a couple days later, when other people could say their last respects Abagail when straight up to the podium and said, "My mommy Hikari was a wonderful and happy person. And she would want you peoples to be super happy, so instead of crying why not laugh and smile." After she was done she had a sense of accomplishment and sat down with a smile from ear to ear. After that everyone looked to her for happiness and a sense of joy.
When Abagail started high school all the boys wanted her because she was like the first flower in the spring. She had long red hair, and electric blue eyes that were mesmerizing. She was always wearing different color tank tops and skinny jeans. All the boys would ask her out on dates, and bring her flowers, but every single one of them she turned down politely. Its not that she was conceited or anything, she just was not interested in dating, and had no time for it anyways.
Abby was always spending her time with her dad, her school work, or the kids she baby sat. To be honest she liked it that way. She never liked all the attention, and hated it when people would look to her for anything other than a smile. That's why she rather spend her time with children than people her own age. And beside the kids she baby sat loved her, whenever she looked after a kid they would beg her to stay. To them she was like an older sister, without the constant teasing.
So anyways let's get back to the story.
When Abby was 17, a senior in highschool, she had her future all planned out. She was going to go to college in Washington to get a minor in creative writing, and a mastors in child development. She loved the idea of spending time with kids all day, and making them laugh. It was finally her highschool's spring break, and she had to go over to the Gordon's house to babysit their two kids. She loved those kids, in fact they were her favorite's in all the city. She went over that night at 5 o'clock, to watch the kids.
When she got there, she was greeted with two kids, one girl and one boy, jumping on her. They all laughed, as their parents arrived at the scene. "Thank you so much Abby, for watching the kids," their mom said. "Oh, its no problem at all. Especially with these little angels," Abagail says with a smirk. Their parents told them the house rules that they heard at less a thousand times before and left the kids in Abby's very capable hands.
"So, what do you want to do now, Edwin and Amanda?" The girl jumps up and down with one of the happiest smiles on her face. She wore pink shorts and a black shirt with Hello Kitty on it, her hair was in two pigtails and she had a stuffed animal fox in her hand. She looked to be about 6. "How about you tell us the story about that... what do you call it..." "Kitsune," Abagail corrected. "Yah that!" said Amanda. "And what about you Edwin? You want to do anything?" Abby asked. The boy wore khaki shorts and a camo top. His hair was short and dark brown. He was two years older then his sister which made him 8. "Well... I was kind of hoping you would help us make some chocolate chip cookies." Abby smiled warmly, and laughed at the boys nervousness. "Sure, that sounds delicious."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time skipIts been two hours since she arrived. The cookies were cooling, waiting to be eaten, and they were sitting in one of the back rooms playing cards, well Abby told them stories. The kids loved her stories, she made them so interesting. Everyone in her school thought she could even make their social studies book exciting.
The kids and her were laughing and having so much fun until Abagail heard someone trying to break in. She told the kids to go and hide upstairs in their special hiding place and not to make a sound. They did as told and Abby went to go find something to defend herself and the kids with. She went in the kitchen and grabbed a knife, and went to peek around the corner to get a look at the intruder. Then the door smashed open. A man with a gun walked into view. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants, so she couldn't get a good look at his face. The man walked around the main floor, probably looking for anything valuable. Abagail stayed hidden where she was, making sure he didn't get anywhere near the kids.
Another two minutes pass, then another, and another. 'This feels like an eternity, why won't he just leave?' Abby thought. Just as she thought that the intruder started to climb the stairs, heading right for the kids. She panicked, and thought 'NO! DON'T GO UP THERE!' That's when she made her decision, she was NOT going to let him hurt them. Abby jumped out of hiding and ran at the person still walking up the stairs. The intruder turned just in time to see a girl charging him. Startled he shot his gun at the girl.
BANG, BANG, BANG
Two of those bullets missed completely, well the other hit its mark. It was embedded into the girls stomach. Abby cried out in pain, but in order to keep the kids from harm, she kept attacking. She only managed to land one hit in the man's right shoulder as they were both rolling down the stairs. The man got up and yanked the blade out of his shoulder, then ran out the door.
Amanda and Edwin came running down the stairs were Abagail laid, and sat down next to her. Their eyes swell up with tears, just looking at their friend laying on the floor bleeding out. Abby gave them the knife and told them to give it to the police when they came, for she knew she was not going to make it.
She hated seeing those tears, she hated seeing people cry. She just could not stand it, she had to do something to take their mind of the situation, to get them to smile again. So she said with a weak smile, "Hey the cookies should be cooled by now how about you two go and grab one, but not too many now don't want you two being too hyper when your parents come home. You're supposed to be in bed remember." The kids gave a teary eyed laugh, and with that Abagail went into the never ending sleep, as her mother did years ago.
