Abagail awoke in the middle of the park in her home town. She was confused, and discombobulated on to why she was still alive. When she heard a deep voice, "Abagail". Abby searched for the source of the voice, but no one was around. She stood up a little off balanced, and noticed something was different about her. "I HAVE A TAIL AND FOX EARS!!!" she screamed in surprise. Then she noticed her outfit had changed, she was now wearing a red tank top, a white skirt, white knee length socks, with a see through fabric covering her top, skirt, and also arms. In her hair there was also a beautiful Ying Yang clip. She ran to the water fountain to get a better look. When see got there she noticed her eye color changed from her electric blue to a beautiful rose color red.
Abagail was in shock when she heard the voice again, "Abagail." "Who are you? And what's going on?!" she yelled. "Abagail, I am the Man in the Moon, but you can call me Manny. I know you are confused and have a lot of questions, but those will be answered over time. For now I will leave you with this information; Your name is Abagail Chikako Vixen and you are the spirit of joy." Abagail was shocked, and the moon was right she had loads of questions. But the one question that was eating at her the most was that fact that she had fox ears and a tail. "I guess I should tell you that much," said Manny, "Just like the stories your mother told you throughout the years, you are a Kitsune Abagail."
As soon as she heard those last five words she smiled from excitement. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I-I just can't believe this! I always dreamt about being a Kitsune. Flying through the air, controlling fire and lightning, turning invisible, OO and shape shifting, and manifesting in dreams, not to mention creating illusions!" Abby was bursting with excitement. Manny only laughed, "I see you will get along well. Now Spirit of Joy, I believe there are some people in this very town that need your encouragement. But I must warn you, they will not be able you see you unless they believe in you. This usually takes awhile, but if you keep at it I am sure they will see you."
After Manny's long speech, (rare right) Abby went into town expecting to see some people she knew looking out their windows, or taking a late night stroll in the moon light. She saw no one, nada, zero people. This confused her so she decided to try out one of her new powers, flight. Abagail slowly but steadily flew up to one of the children she babysat's house, and peeked inside. Again no one, "Where is everyone, its not like they just up and left town, is it?"
She was getting frustrated, until she saw a calendar hanging up on someone's wall. It said "Tuesday, June 18, 10:30-12:30 ABAGAIL VIXEN'S FUNERAL, R.I.P." Abby couldn't speak, she stood there staring at the calendar, "No...this can't be...I-I finally figured out what I was going to do with my life. No!!!" She broke down in tears, then it happened, her life flashed before her eyes. (A little late, but better late then never.) She saw herself in her bed with her mom reading to her, then to herself with her mom in a hospital bed, then at her mothers funeral, to her first day in highschool, and finishing off with the memory of herself saving the children from the intruder.
Abagail stopped crying and wiped her tears away, because she remembered her policy. "No one, no one must see my cry. Because if I cry that only brings sadness to those around me. No I mustn't cry, I have to stay strong for everyone." She got up, wiped herself off and headed towards the church.
I procession was almost done, and they last thing in the mass was the free mic part. No one wanted to go up, because they were in soo much pain. The town loved Abby, like she was their own daughter. No one wanted to say goodbye.
Abby caught sight of Edwin and Amanda, they were drenched in tears. Abagail hated seeing them like this, she hated seeing everyone like this. So she decided to try out another one of her new abilities, illusions. Amanda and Edwin were the closest ones, and she knew they could get the message, expecially because she told them over and over about the Kitsune stories.
She went over to them, and touched their shoulders, and a vision of sorts came to mind. She imagined herself, her old self, in front of the podium waving them over. They seemed to got the message, and so did every child in the church. All of them walked up together, and stood in front of the whole town holding hands.
The parents were awestruck on to why their children were doing this, but were quickly relived of these feelings when Edwin started talking. "Everyone listen, I know that we are all sad by probably one of the greatest persons death." His sister continued, "but Abby wouldn't want us to cry, she never wanted us to cry." Edwin picked it back up again, "We have to smile, because if I learned one thing from Abby, it's that you need to feel joy, and not let the bad things run your life." "And that Kitsune's are awesome!" Amanda added.
This brought tears to everyone's eyes, including Abagail, but they were not tears of sadness. No they were tears of joy, for they knew that the children were right, and they needed to not dwell on the bad things.
The kids ran back to their parents and hugged them, but when Amanda and Edwin returned to their seats they found they have not lost their amazing babysitter after all. For when they returned, they saw Abby tail and all. She motioned towards the door, and they follow.
When outside they run to their old babysitter. "How are you here, we saw you die?!" they say in unison. She gives them a weak smile, then hugs them so tight. She simply replies with, "I don't know, but I do know that the only way people can see me is if they believe in me." "We believe in you, and so does every one else. But why are we the only ones who saw you?!" Edwin says. Abagail smiles at this and let's out a laugh, "They believe in the old me, not me right now. They think I am dead." "What is the new you? We will convince them for you," Amanda says. "Amanda, I am a little disappointed in you. After all those stories I told you, you don't know what I am." Amanda's eyes widen, as if see has seen a ghost. "You're a Kitsune!" she says excitedly. "Yep! and I am also the spirit of joy now also, so I don't want to see you two crying any time soon ok."
"AMANDA! EDWIN! Come on we're going home! Say your last goodbyes, and let's go home!" their mom calls. "Will we see you again?!" Edwin asks. "Don't worry I'll be around, now go to your mom, and get some sleep. Don't want you to be tired in the morning," she starts to turn away when she remembers something, "oh, and no snacks, get right to bed you hear me." "Yes mother" Edwin teases back.
And with that they part ways, only to see each other in the nearby future. More kids start to see Abagail, from her home town (even those she doesn't go there as often anymore), and all across the globe, especially in Japan. But her story isn't over, no not even close. She has many trails ahead of her still, that put her joy to the test.
