*** Thought I would write the last couple of chapters from Sunshine's pov, just to make it sting that bit more 😆 Enjoy! ***

Sunshine had been dreaming about her mother. They didn’t get to chat too often, the lines of communication back to her home dimension were unreliable at best. But sometimes she would dream of the fiery ghuleh and it went a long way to quashing the homesickness she often felt.

She was momentarily confused when she woke up on her bed, and she could hear whispering. She looked over to Itzal and remembered how they had fallen asleep together with a fond smile. Over the last week or two he had become so much more to her than just a lost soul that she had felt compelled to help. Her intuition had told her early on that he was worth saving, despite Alpha’s warnings about him. She knew Itzal was something special, and she knew he was meant to be a big part of her life. Sunshine always relied on her gut feelings.

She was used to Itzal fidgeting in his sleep sometimes; he was plagued by bad dreams, which made it understandable. However, her instincts prickled just now and she focused her attention on him properly.

His brow knitted together and he was whispering through gritted teeth as if he was struggling to stop the words from escaping him. She gently nudged his shoulder and tried to wake him up, but he continued, his eyes moving quickly backwards and forwards under his closed eyelids. She sat up and shook him more forcefully, noticing that the symbols on the black metal collar around his neck had started to glow with a dull, white light.

“Itzal! Wake up!” she said insistently, as she shook him. The glow from the collar was getting brighter and she found herself shaking him with both hands now, trying desperately to bring him out of what she realised now was some kind of spell from Santos. “Aether! Dewdrop!!” she shouted, just as his eyes flew open and he trained his haunted mismatched gaze on her with intensity.

She breathed a sigh of relief and smiled that he was back with her. The relief was short-lived, though, when he quickly sat up and pushed her away from him. She toppled off the side of the bed as he screamed,

“Run!! Sunshine, get the fuck away from me!! Please!!”

She knew, knew, this was not her Itzal. Her gut told her not to hesitate, it told her to obey him. She jumped up and flung open the door, taking one last look at the ghoul who had flipped her world upside down. Her heart was breaking into a million pieces as she turned and sprinted down the hallway.

Aether and Dew were jogging towards her, looking confused and sleepy.

“Sunshine? What’s wrong?” Dew asked.

“Itzal’s gone rogue. He’s coming,” she shouted out as she ran through the middle of them.

“Go to Alpha!” Aether shouted after her, “We’ll grab him.”

She didn’t look back as she bolted around the corner and ran towards the lair where Terzo’s ghouls lived. She hoped that someone would be awake still and as she flew down the corridor, she was relieved to hear the sounds of the TV coming from the lounge.

“Alpha! Omega!” she sobbed as she ran down the hall.

To her relief, Alpha, Omega, Ifrit and Mist were watching a movie. They jumped up when they heard her and ran towards her.
