the constant feeling like he wasn't good enough, in any aspect — the feeling of hateful stares lingering on his every move, unable to breathe — everything was slowly becoming too much for hueningkai to handle.

usually the maknae was good at ignoring the hateful comments left on their group content, choosing to simply live in the moment without caring for the opinions of others,

but when the comments came up every five seconds, when he as so much breathed for too long,

yeah. it got to be too much.

the boy hadn't been able to look in a mirror all day, feeling as if the sight of himself would make him sick to the stomach. weird. it was so weird. he didn't even know these people, and they didn't know him. why was it affecting him so badly?

he breathed out, the air flowing through his lungs feeling somewhat polluted. he wished he could get a restart to the week — it'd been so draining.

the universe seemed to hate him — hueningkai wanted nothing more than to crawl in his noona's arms and cry his heart out, but his noona wasn't at home. she'd been out with the hybe girls the past few hours, and while he should've felt happy she was getting a well deserved mini break from her hard work, he couldn't help but feel angry.

she'd always been there for him in his times of need, why was now any different?

kai soon realized how silly his inner thoughts were, opting to distract himself with a new series on netflix.

an hour passed and he still wasn't distracted.

a full episode had passed and the boy had yet to focus on one single scene, already having forgotten which show he'd clicked on in the first place.

this is no use he sighed yet again, slamming his face into a pillow as a single tear streamed down his cheek.

before he could cry any longer, he heard an angel's singing coming from the front door.

"i'm home!" mia exclaimed, and hueningkai froze in his place. he felt as though he'd entered a dream.

the maknae stayed laying as he heard the girl prance around the house, the members' voices going into mia mode as they spoke to her. kai figured out she'd had a good time, they'd gone out to eat at a bbq restaurant, gone shopping for a bit, taken photobooth pictures (which turned out super cute, they each bought a print), and gotten "a fun drink" (as mia called them).

huening found himself smiling as he heard of his noona's fun day, the boy glad she'd had a good time with her friends. then, one of his biggest fears came true.

"hey stevie?" she called out from her bedroom, their leader replying. "yea?"

"where's ningie?" she asked, kai hearing her footsteps leading towards the kitchen area.

he could hear muffled talking sounds, beginning to feel anxious. before long hueningkai could hear her soft footsteps nearing his bedroom door, a gentle knock soon following.

"hyuka?" and another knock. "it's me," she paused when she received no answer. "it's sami noona.. could you open the door for me?"

misaki waited for a moment before she heard the boy's bed softly squeak, telling her he'd stood up. a few seconds passed before the lock turned from the inside, misaki softly smiling.

she let more time pass before opening the door, peeking inside to see hueningkai layed on his bed once again, facing down.

the girl softly sat by his side, gently laying a hand on the boy's back. she caressed his wrinkled tee, feeling for his rythmic breathing. mia sat there, continuing her soothing movements before hyuka suddenly sat up, moving to rest in her arms. the boy wrapped his limbs around the ono girl, mia doing the same. his face was buried into the crook of her neck, mia sighing when she felt a stray tear fall on her skin.

she could his breathing becoming a bit more erratic, shifting her head to the side to press a lingering kiss to the side of the boy's head.

this is what kai had been missing, what he'd needed all this time. to be in the girl's arms, to feel her unspoken consolation, to feel at home.

a few minutes passed, mia now rocking their bodies back and forth. huening's soft cries had eased, now simply the occasional sniffle and the tears that'd landed on her collarbone damp and drying.

"thank you, noona." he said, in the smallest, most fragile version of the youngest's voice misaki had ever heard. it broke her heart.

"no reason for that, ning." she replied, pressing yet another kiss to his temple. "you wanna snuggle and watch movies? hm? i can order in, too."

kai removed himself from his previous position, now sitting in front of the girl. misaki softly smiled, raising her hands to wipe his tears. she had no idea why he'd been so upset, he was grateful she never forced him to tell her why he felt the way he did — she simply was willing to sit with him as he cried. he'd never felt a love so deep and.. loving as he did with mia.

"my handsome ningie. i'm sorry i can't take your pain away." she softly said, smiling again as she felt the boy lean into her touch.

"do you want to spend the night in the living room? or just in here?" she asked, referring to her previous offer of a comforting night for the boy.

"hyungs, too," he answered, and she nodded. she patted the boy's cheek, letting him stand before she did.

it was as if they all had a wire connecting them together, to feel what the others felt, to know what the others were thinking — the boys had already set up a big blanket fort, just like hueningkai liked. misaki ordered the food, and walked into the living room, right as the youngest had clicked on the first movie to begin.
