flashback

sometime 2021
panic attack, mention of blood

the girl sat in the midst of her boys as they continued with their usual jokes, the five loud in the comfort of their home as the girl sat and listened to them.

a movie played on the screen— not the one she'd chosen, however it'd proved itself to be good a mere twenty minutes in.

her eyes switched from the scene on their flat screen to looking at her fellow middle child when something hit her deep in the heart.

suddenly Mia's mind flashed back to that day. the scenes she'd witnessed appeared in the broad daylight— this had never happened before. she'd always had the option to silently sob into her pillows because of the memories' timings, it'd never been so spontaneous.

well— not until now, at least.

her smile slowly melted off her face, a frown having replaced it.

suddenly, distant yet uncomfortably close echoes of all-too familiar screams closed in the space around her — she hadn't realized when the tears first began to cascade down her cheeks as the hands she clasped around her ears seemingly closed off all other senses.

flashing lights, a truck's horn, blood trickling down the now cracked windows.

her self-proclaimed twin was the first to notice Mia's sudden silence, the boy unable to speak as his eyes watered watching his best friend slowly begin to break down. it greatly pained the boy to witness the girl have her worst episode to date, and he grabbed the leader's attention by finally letting out his first sob.

after BeomGyu's initial pained sound were the other members fully aware of the girl's unconsciously quietened whimpers. their eyes finally tore away from the loud tv, YeonJun rushing to Mia's side. the boy held her close as the maknae turned the tv off, the others racing to turn off anything that might trigger another reaction from her heightened senses.

YeonJun's arms remained wrapped tightly around the girl's trembling figure, pressing soft kisses into her temple to try and help her calm down. his hands found her head, allowing his fingers to gently massage in another attempt to bring her down to earth.

a few minutes passed before no more noise came from the girl, TaeHyun leaning down to see the girl fast asleep. shaky breaths sounded from her lips, her tear-stained cheeks paining the boy's heart. "noona is asleep," he whispered, gently attempting to rub the streaks from her rosy cheeks. he frowned when they were still there.

YeonJun easily stood from his place on the ground after having situated Misaki in a more comfortable position in his arms, carrying the girl to her bed. knowing she'd prefer to wake up to SooBin after the attack she'd just had, the boys signaled for the leader to lay in her bed first so she could cuddle into him.

YeonJun leaned back after laying her down, softly smiling after seeing how she subconsciously leaned into the leader's warmth. he placed a soft kiss on her head, letting it linger for a bit before HueningKai slapped his back. "stop hogging her."

the remaining members took their turns in hugging Mia, soon leaving SooBin in the bed with her. his arms were wrapped tightly around her, unable to let go as if she'd disappear if he did.

"oh, Mia.. i'm sorry." was all he could say, however unsure of what he was feeling sorry about.

don't be, she answered in her mind. i'll be okay.
