                              Chapter One

(The year 2008: you 8 guys 9 splinters 48)
This story begins in one of the biggest cities in the world. It had a huge crime rate, known for its amazing pizza. And of course the Nicks. The city you lived in was called New York. You lived in one of the middle-ranged apartments in Manhattan. You sat in your bedroom at your desk trying to keep yourself occupied. You were an eight-year-old girl in an apartment with a party next door. It was Saturday night and the cold rain hit your window. You were in your room drawing with your headphones in your ears. Trying to block out the noise of your parent's party. The parties they would throw would happen more often than not. When they had anyone over you weren't allowed to come out of your room under any circumstances. Whenever you asked your parents why you weren't allowed out of your room when the company was over. Your parents would always say the same thing.

-We Don't want our friends to know, that we have a pig for a daughter.-
-We have a reputation to uphold.-
-We can't let anyone see, literally the biggest mistake we've ever made.-

Knowing that this was the response you were going to get from your parents. You stopped asking them why and just rolled with the punches. But you mainly just stayed in your room and drew on paper with your crayons. Now you are probably wondering, why not just go somewhere else for the night? The reason why you never went to someone else's house, was because no one liked you. Since you were a bigger girl, with rags for clothes cause your parents never bought you anything. Most kids would push you around while they make fun of you. They'd pick on you whenever they got the opportunity to and the school and your parents did squat about it. So you decided to just keep to yourself and became shy and uncomfortable when talking to others. And got used to not having any friends. But since you had to stay, you had to stay in your room until the party was done. Then you had clean up after them and sometimes your dad got so drunk that you would have to carry him naked to his bedroom. You hated being an adult when you were a kid but what choice do you have? You had nowhere to go, and your parents are either hung over or high to be adults themselves. So you had to, you even still money out of their wallets to pay the tenant each month. And you were the one who got groceries at a local quickie market. And when you got home they'd be passed out in bed, or on the couch, once you found them out on the porch. They always thought that it just magically clean itself up or they got you to do it. You being the nice person you are, you always cleaned it up, thinking that this is how all kids earn their parent's love and respect. But the worst part about your parents. Weren't that they were poor drunks, but they were rich drunks. And had maids and butlers. But they hated working for them and barely showed up for work. You and some of the maids got along well though. And they taught you how to cook and clean, helped with homework, let you talk about your day, normal things like that. Thinking that your parents weren't going to be parents to you any time soon. But, you did find a loop whole to your party situation. Just in case the party started to get too loud for you. You'd always go out on the rooftop of your building. Getting away from the loud noise below you. You went out on the rooftop just to look at the lights that were on the buildings. Mainly because there aren't any stars in the city. But the moon was a very nice touch to your evening. And you still thought it was beautiful anyway. Looking at your paper you hummed and tapped your foot on the floor as the party got louder and louder. You snapped your crayon as you sat up straightly. You then took off your headphones and looked at your door. Rolling your eyes as you got up and walked to your windows. Opening up your blinds to see that it was raining outside. You hunched over and groaned.

"I guess I have no choice but to stay inside tonight... (Sigh)...oh well..."

You walked back to your desk and sat back down to continue drawing. You tried your best to ignore it but it was worst and you couldn't ignore it anymore. When not even five minutes later. It got so loud that even your headphones couldn't block it out anymore. You needed some fresh air badly, even though it was pouring out. You walked back over to the window. And unlock it opening your window anyway. You took a deep breath in, feeling a few raindrops hit your skin lightly. A small smile appears on your face. Throughout all of the music playing, people danced and sang. Not to mention all the rain poring down like cats and dogs. You heard the sound of someone crying above you on the roof.
