The gang kept walking and walking, the corridors became dry and barren. The open caves filled with dead trees and skeletons of animals and even humans. It was getting hot the further down they went, as if the earths core was melting them to the bone. Dan starting to sweat, she was lucky they prepared with lots of water. Eventually it got bad, they had to find a cage to rest in. They found one relatively big but it was still too small, Brandon put icicles that he said couldn't melt. Their cold temperature balanced the room, everyone thanked Brandon.
"See, this is why we need him..."
"I am good for so much more than changing the temperature! Hmpf."
"This heat is too much, is there anything we can do?"
"No.. we just have to bear it."
Dan grunted, but she had to. They kept walking beating the scorching heat from the ground, thd concrete floor shifted to sand. Further down the tunnel the walls became orange and red rock. Wind picked up their way as a sandstorm forced them back. Hawkins took the lead, treading forward with his arms up. He did his best to block the sand, but it was relentless. After 2 hours of walking, the sandstorm stopped. They looked at a strange structure in front of them. Not far away was a large island surrounded by a pit. A small bridge let to a big temple with housing beneath it. Sand swirled around it from the opening above, it flooded beneath the Temple swirling around like a giant toilet bowl. They were obviously out of the underground tunnels, this was a giant cave far from a mere hallway.
"Uh, looks like we're here."
"Looks like the desert above. Probably where all this sand is coming from."
Dan sighed, they continued through the dunes that faded away in the dirty horizon. The sand was hot on her shoes and some sand leaked into them, they arrived at the bridge leading inside. But there was someone on the end of it, a person stood with sandals. Shorts that were a bit too short with a belt holding numerous sword sheathes, keys, a red mantel that covered his left shoulder, and a book. He was kitted, and he seemed to only have one arm, he held a katana in his right hand, a black hood covered his face. He had a headpiece with small horns and a flower on his right temple. Long bandages ran down his legs covering his shins. A long staff with a curved blade was on his back, he was the guardian of this bridge.
"Turn back. Mortals and mercenaries serve no purpose here, take your leave or be struck down right here; right now."
Ki stepped forward, inches from the start of the wooden bridge.
"I am The Shogun, it is evident that I seek a presence with Mayuki."
"Almighty Shogun, know your place. We are not of your kin, Konton no Keshin will not see these mortals leave the desert. You should know we Neherians split from you long ago. So I say again, turn back."
Vee scoffed, he's had it with the bodyguards full of it. He walked onto the bridge with a stern face, the man tensed up. Was he going to strike Vee? The man yelled out and sliced where Vee should've been. But Vee was to the side behind him, his sword drawn and high in the air. The man bled from his hip, not even getting the chance to speak before Vee's blade went through his neck. His head fell to the ground and into the pit below, Vee wiped the blood and kicked the body down.
"Vee, you might get in trouble for that."
"Don't care, I wanna go home."
They all crossed the bridge and made their way up to the temple, the entrance led to a long hallway. Down the hall and past the dozens of guards was a tall golden throne. A horned woman with long white hair sat on it, a black crop top and light black pants were filled with armor and ornaments. Her horns were red along with her eyes, her fangs were obvious. Black boots with belts strapped to several parts of her body. She looked at the people who just entered and scoffed, she recognized Ki.
