Day 3

Location: Bloodsea

Time: 4:50 PM

Primary Goal: Find the others [3/15]

Darius couldn't imagine what his face looked like in the instance, maybe like a fish with his eyes wide and building and his mouth fallen about, but whatever it was, it made Ai worried enough to poke at him worriedly.

"Darius...?" Ai asked slowly, sounding worried. She peeked around, trying to get a glance at the watch, but Darius hid it before she could see it. Ai gave him a strange, and somewhat hurt, look. "Darius, what is it?"

"I..." Darius hesitated. On one hand... he was really, really tired, and wanted to just forget about this new, startling piece of information so he could go take a nap, like he had been wanting to ever since he got on this boat. Luca being one of the 'others' Darius watch was referring to opened a whole knew can of worms, and Darius didn't want to deal with it right now.

But... on the other hand, not dealing with it would probably turn into a even bigger problem later. 'Communication is key', or whatever.

With a sigh, Darius showed Ai the new wording on his watch, and then red it out for her, since she couldn't read it.

"Oh," Ai said, frowning. And then: "OH! So one of them is one of us!"

"We just have to know who," Darius agreed, nodding. Ai tilted her head.

"You think it could be either of them?" she asked in a tone of voice that suggested she didn't agree.

Darius looked at her. "Well, who do you think it is?"

"Luca," Ai replied, as if it was obvious. Darius stared at her.

"How can you even know that?" he asked her. "Do you just want it to be him instead of Sandy?"

Ai shrugged. "Maybe? But if all of us are kids, it's make sense if Luca was, too."

Darius thought about that. "You could be right... Alright, let's assume it's Luca for now, but we probably shouldn't ignore the possibility that it could be Sandy."

Ai agreed, though she didn't dwell on that possibility for long. "We found another one of us!" she cheered, beaming. "Another one of us from another world! That's so cool!"

"I think so," Darius agreed, though he couldn't help but think that Ai's specific theory had not completely been confirmed yet. Sure, since Ai, Greg AND Darius were from different worlds it was definitely likely, but that might all be coincidence. "Should we... tell him?"

Darius thought back to all their other conversations with Luca so far. He had started to seem more confident and less wary of them as time went on, but.... "I don't know. I don't think he'll take it so well. He doesn't seem to trust us."

"Maybe he's just wary of people in this world," Ai pointed out. "He might trust us more if he knows we're just like him!"

That was actually a really good point, but as it was, it was only a guess. What if Ai was wrong?

Still...

"Should we try?" Darius asked, frowning deeply. Ai blinked.

"I think we should try," she said, nodding firmly. Then she smiled. "It'll be nice, having a new friend with us."

Darius couldn't deny that. "You're right. Let's go find him."

Ai and Darius left Greg, who, as the conversation was not about Wirt, or him or anything else interesting, had fallen asleep, and had gone to find Luca on their own. They had a lot to cover on the big ship, and the two of them moved quickly.
