"Your majesty!" A knight yells as he rushes into the throne room. The king stands.
"Calm yourself! What is it?" The king asks.
"Avery has returned to the castle with disquieting news!" The knight yells, "Jack, your son... He's believed to have been slain by that beast!" The king's demeanor changes at this news.
"He lost?" The king asks quietly. "No." The king walks down the steps that lead to his throne and he paces around the room. "He can't have lost... He is an Angel... But more than that, he's my son. He should be better."
"Sir, what should we do?" A royal guard steps up to him. "Should we send a battalion to slay this fiendish monster?"
"No." The king says.
"Your majesty?" The guard asks.
"Send Severin Brooke." The king says firmly after regaining himself. "He's proven himself as one of the best Angels around. Where my son failed, he will not." The guard looks at the king for a moment. He then salutes.
"Yes sir." The guard says, and the knight exits the throne room. The king walks back up to his throne and sits down. Resting his chin in his hand, he ponders the loss of his son.
"My son, dead?" He asks himself. "No. Jack is too good to have been killed like that. He can't have perished. He will return. I know it."
____________________________________"Hm?" Severin asks, "The king wants me to slay it? Well I haven't even had lunch yet."
"But Mr. Brooke-" A knight begins to say, but is cut off.
"I know, I know. I was just pulling your leg. Alright then. Get me some armor and appropriate clothing. As well as an ax. I'll kill it. It will wish to have never been born." Severin stands.
"Yes sir." The knight says as he leaves to get what was asked. Severin walks over to a restroom and looks in the mirror. He grabs a comb and starts to comb his hair. As he does, he thinks to himself.
"That fool, Jack, failed eh?" He says to himself, "Figures. He never seemed too bright. His ego likely got the best of him. That ego was larger than any tower." He finishes combing his hair and looks in the mirror. Putting his hand on the back of his head, he smiles. His smile disappears as he thinks. "Meh, not that face. Won't do." He says, and starts making faces to himself until the knight returns and knocks on his door. "Hmph. Guess I'll figure it out later." He walks over to the door and opens it.
"Here, sir." The knight says, handing over the armor and weapon he prepared.
"Thank you." Severin says as he begins to turn away but he turns back as something strikes him. "Hey, what do you think of this?" He then makes a face at him, one he thinks might be sexy.
"Um..." The knight says, "It looks good. I think?" The knight then salutes. "Well, if you'll excuse me, I have other work to attend to." The knight leaves the building. Outside he leans against the door. "Sigh... Why do I always have to be the one to speak to this guy?" Inside, Severin puts on his attire.
"Nice. Should look good in this." He begins to put his ax on his back but he pauses for a moment. "And, I guess it should protect me too. Guess that's important." Severin finishes readying up and exits the building. He walks down the steps onto the street. The street is crowded and he walks down the street as women and men alike fawn over him. "Hehe. Guess I look good after all." He says to himself. Eventually he reaches the stables where his horse is stored. "Hello." He says to a stable hand.
"Ah, Mr Brooke. You'll need your horse I imagine?" He asks.
"Yep." Severin says. The stable hand then walks into the stables and in a few minutes he comes out with Severins horse.
