The following day, the duel was to happen. Jack had trouble sleeping the night before, however he did sleep for six hours. He got up, and began getting ready for it. He bathed for thirty minutes, sitting about and thinking of how he'll beat Severin. "How will I beat him?" Jack asks himself as he sits there, scrubbing his arm. "He hits hard. My best bet is to stay loose and be nimble. I'll work at wearing him down." Jack finishes and he stands. He steps out and begins drying off. Once is done, he places the towel aside and gets dressed into his clothing. As he exits the bathroom, Madelyn is standing beside the door, startling him. "Whoa!" He screeches as he nearly falls. Catching himself, he regains composure. "M-Madelyn? Did you need to bathe?" Jack asks.
"Sigh..." Madelyn turns towards him, resting her arm against the wall. "No. I didn't need to bathe. I did that earlier." She is still dressed in her nightgown.
"But you're still not dressed in your daily clothes." Jack says.
"I know. I've been relaxing. This is a different nightgown. But that is beside the point." Madelyn says.
"Well, what is it then?" He asks inquisitively.
"I thought about what you said yesterday." She says.
"You have?" Jack asks.
"Yes... And I think you're righ... R... Right." Madelyn clearly struggled to say he was right. "You still get on my nerves admittedly. But... You're right. We're twins. We shouldn't be at one another's throats." She says, removing her arm from the wall. "So I'm ready to start making reparations, if you are." Jack is stunned that he had gotten through to her. Madelyn extends her hand. "Well? Don't make this more embarrassing than it already is." She says, her face turning red.
"Heh." Jack smiles. He grabs her hand and they shake on it. "I am ready." Jack says. They release one another's hand. "Though... I'm gonna duel with Severin. So that's if I live long enough."
"Hmph." Madelyn says, crossing her arms. "Well just know, I'll TRY to root for you." She smirks at him.
"Oh, thank you, your majesty." Jack bows very sarcastically.
"Well, I am your future queen. What else can you ask for?" Madelyn says in a playful manner.
"Hehe." Jack laughs a tad. "I've missed this. Well, sorry to cut things short. I've gotta go." Jack walks away as Madelyn watches.
"Okay... I've missed this too." Madelyn says quietly, striking a small smile. Jack returns back to his bedroom, Ethan sitting on the bed.
"Hey Ethan." Jack says as he closes the door.
"Ugh... No tv, no games. This place is so dull." Ethan says.
"Yeah. I'm sure it is, given the amount of entertainment your universe has." Jack says, walking over to him. "But hey, you can attend my duel with Severin. That's entertainment!"
"Well, unfortunately I've never been a fan of watching my friend get bloodied." Ethan says.
"I'll win. Maybe. Hopefully. Hehehe..." Jack rubs the back of his head.
"Sigh..." Ethan sighs. There's a knock at the door.
"Come in." Jack says as he turns to face the door. The door opens.
"I was sent to escort you to the ring." Avery says.
"Ah! Avery!" Jack exclaims. "You're back!" He walks over and they hug. Their hug releases.
"Huh? I'm back? Pft..." Avery says, "I should say that to you. I thought you were dead."
"Oh yeah... Sorry about that... Sorry about not being there for your and Willow's wedding." Jack says apologetically, "I should have been."
