The morning after Jack and Avery talked, the tournament had arrived. The capital of Fiscera was alive with sounds of people ready for the competition. And Jack lays in bed, beginning to awaken. "Hey." Avery says as he enters the room. "Your father said for you to get up."

"Ugh! I'm up! I'm up..." Jack says as he raises up. He's in his night clothes.

"Good. The tournament is today." Avery says as he opens the curtains on Jack's windows.

"I know." He puts his face in his hand. "I know. I'm just not really looking forward to it."

"Why?" Avery asks, sitting next to him on the bed.

"Because my father will be there, and my sister... And everyone else." Jack says, "Other noble families. Other Angels."

"I see..." Avery says, "I'm sure it'll all be fine sir. Er... I mean Jack."

"Maybe it will. But their eyes. All eyes will be on me. Glaring at me like I'm a failure..." Jack says, "But like you said, Avery." He stands. "Maybe it won't be like that. Won't know until I'm there." Avery stands as well and walks over to the door.

"I'll be waiting outside whilst you get dressed." Avery says.

"Alright." Jack says. Avery then exits, closing the door behind him. Jack then undresses, looking at himself in the mirror. His body is well built, though is adorned with scars. Scars from various battles and former tournament injuries. He gets dressed in his attire that he'll wear to the tournament. He looks back at the mirror. "Yeah, this'll do." Jack then walks over to his bedroom door, opening it. Standing just outside is Avery.

"Ah, you're done." Avery says.

"Yep. Sorry for making you wait." Jack says as he stretches. He then puts his hands on his hips.

"It's fine." Avery tells him.

"So, shall we go?" Jack asks. Avery nods, and the two begin walking down the hallway, passing castle staff who are frantically readying for the post-tournament castle banquet. "Looks like the castle banquet is coming along nicely. Eh, Avery?"

"Yes, it does." Avery says as the two continue walking. As they reach the throne room and begin walking to the exit, a knight walks up to them

"Hello sir." The knight says to Jack, saluting.

"Yes?" Jack asks as he turns to look at him.

"The King wishes to see you. Your sister and brother are inside already." The knight says.

"Sigh... Alright." Jack turns and walks up to the throne room. He and Avery stop outside of the door. "Stay out here, Avery." Jack says, "I'll be back in a bit."

"I will." Avery says, saluting.

"Heh." Jack chuckles. He then opens the doors and walks inside. Inside, his father is sitting upon the throne and his siblings are standing in front of him. "Hey, Madelyn, Joseph, and father."

"Took you long enough." Madelyn says, rolling her eyes.

"Ha, ha, ha. Very funny." Jack says as he walks over to them.

"Hey, Jack!" Joseph, Jack's younger brother, says excitedly.

"Hey, Joseph." Jack says. The three siblings then stand in line before their father. Their father stands up from his throne.

"Listen to me, my children." He says, "Today is the day for the annual combat tournament for Angels. This being a special day that we come upon once a year, I expect all three of you..." He begins walking down the stairs to them. "To conduct yourselves nobally and royally. You three are all royalty, and must conduct yourselves appropriately for your societal station." He says as reaches the floor, "Failure to do so will result in punishment. Understood?"
