Jack wakes up the following day. Sitting up on the sofa, he looks around and doesn't see Ethan anywhere. As he stands, he looks at the clock. It is a little past 12. "Where is he?" Jack asks himself. He walks into the small kitchen in his search for Ethan. He sees a note on the kitchen counter. Picking it up and reading it, it says:
"Out job hunting. Will be back soon. -Ethan"
"Oh." Jack says, "At least I know where he went." Then he starts thinking about what he should do. Ethan had promised to help him regain his memories, but with him not being there, Jack thinks about what he should do. "I don't really know what to do." Jack says, "Maybe I can regain a memory on my own." He walks back to the sofa and sits down. Sitting there and thinking for some time. "I know." Jack says as he stands. He gets dressed and exits the apartment. Using a key Ethan had given him to lock it. He walks down the stairs and onto the sidewalk. The world is still so new and unfamiliar to him, but the mystery of it gives him a sense of adventure. Walking down the sidewalk, he passes many people, most of which pay no mind to him. Some however notice his child-like wonder. Stopping outside of a store, a woman walks up to him.
"Hello sir, are you new here?" She asks.
"Oh, yeah. That obvious huh? Hehehe." Jack says, rubbing the back of his head.
"Yeah. hehe." She says, "So, uh... Where are you from?"
"Oh... Uh, I'm not from here." Jack says nervously, "I honestly don't remember too much from my home."
"Oh, how come?" She asks inquisitively.
"I sort of lost my memory. Very hard hit, y'know?" Jacks says.
"Huh. Memory loss to that degree is very rare." She says, "Well, whatever the case, my name is Audrey. Yours?" Audrey asks.
"I'm Jack." The two shake hands.
"Do you have anywhere to stay? You can stay at my place if you want." Audrey says as they release their handshake.
"Thank you, but I already have a place to stay. The guy who found me collapsed let me stay with him." Jack says.
"Really now? That's too bad. Where is this guy?" She asks.
"He's job hunting, he said." Jack says.
"Ah, struggling to find work? What kinda place are you staying at?" Audrey asks.
"It's pretty small, but it works." Jack says.
"Hm. Well, my house is very spacious. You may enjoy yourself there." She says, "More-so than that place."
"Uh, no, I'm fine. Thank you." Jack says as he backs away.
"Wait, at least come and see the place." She says as she notices he backs away.
"I-I don't know." Jack says.
"Okay, I know I sound weird and it is making you uncomfortable. So let's start over. What is it you're doing out here?" She asks, "Y'know, alone."
"Oh, uh... Well, he promised he would help me recover my memories, but he's out. So I decided I would come outside on my own to do it." Jack says.
"I see, I see..." Audrey says, "I Could help you... Y'know, if you want."
"I... Okay. If you want to. I guess." Jack says.
"So, where do you want to go?" she asks.
"I... Don't know." Jack says.
"Oh, right." Audrey says, "Well, what is your home like? If you remember anything."
"Oh... It's a..." Jack says, "It's big and... Fantastical. Plenty of people, bustling... Bustling city."
