"Hey, we're headed out to San Francisco if you want to head out with us," Duncan said and I looked at him weirdly and then at Joe who was also going with him. I really wanted to go with Duncan, but Methos was in Paris and I wanted to be with him so I just sat there and thought about it when Duncan put his hand on my shoulder.
"You don't need to go if you don't want to, stay here if you want. You are free to be your own immortal, Maria." I nodded and really didn't know what I wanted so I looked at the time and both of them looked with me.
"You have an hour to decide. Our plane leaves in one hour," he said and I nodded and headed to my house where Methos was standing, which made it even harder.
"You look like you have a dilemma to solve, care for some help?" I laughed and pushed open the door, closing it behind Methos as he came out from the freezing cold.
"I have no idea what to do, actually. Duncan and Joe are going to San Francisco and I really want to go with them, but I also want to stay here with you. What would you pick?"
"Well, I would obviously pick me-" he started and I laughed, shaking my head as I went to the fridge and grabbed us both a beer, sitting down on the couch with him.
"What is happening in San Francisco right now?" Methos asked and I realized it was something I had forgotten to ask.
"I have no idea, I just rarely leave Duncan's side, I am always so close to him now."
"Is it that... or is it that you will feel guilty if something happened while you weren't with him?" I looked up at him and chuckled a little but, drinking some of my beer.
"I knew you were old, Methos, but not old enough to read minds," I said and he smiled, putting down his beer, so I did the same.
"I won't be angry or sad if you left, but you can depart from MacLeod from time to time." I nodded and just felt something was going to go wrong if I didn't go with him, so I sighed and Methos looked at the time on his watch.
"Go, I will hold down the fort," he said and I smiled and looked at the time and back at him, scared for him now.
"Call immediately if something happens?" I almost questioned and he nodded, so I packed the swords I got from enemy immortals and that was about it and looked back at the couch again, going into my pocket to grab the extra key to my front door.
"What is this for?" he asked and I smiled and headed to the door, opening it.
"My house if you need it at all," I said and he looked back down at the keys and I left, heading back to the barge where I caught Duncan and Joe just in time. They looked at me and were surprised to see me almost.
"I thought you would stay here with Methos," Duncan said, loading my duffle bag into the bag of his car along with Joe's bag.
"Meh, Methos told me to go with you," I said and got in the backseat where I began to think of Methos again. Why I chose to leave him, I had no idea, but I felt something bad was going to happen, I just sort of knew it and Fitz had always told me to listen to those warnings. They always came true. We got on the plane once we arrived and I sat in the middle of the men, sighing as I sat down.
"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to go with you guys."
"What, you hate flying?" Joe asked and I looked at him and Duncan grabbed my hand, which startled me and he laughed.
"You can calm down, do you know the probability that this plane will go down?" Duncan asked and I just stared at him and he put his hands up, seeing my death stare. I ended up falling asleep, knowing that was the best way to get past the ride and we ended up arriving, Duncan grabbing my bag for me for some reason and we headed out. I got off the plane and walked with them when I began to feel an immortal, wishing that it was Methos, but it wasn't, and I didn't recognize it. I heard a shot go off and I looked down at the immortal, who took the bullet and ran, jumping down to him and looked at Duncan and Joe and at the building the shot came from. I raced after the man and Duncan followed me, both of us going down separate streets to get to the mystery shooter. I raced up to Duncan who had the shooter and he unmasked him, and I just stared at him, completely confused.
