Served with Love
"Well, seeing everything come together only means that the day I'll become your husband is only getting nearer."
_____________________________________The aroma of freshly baked Shepherd's pie filled the Back Bay apartment as Blue took it out of the oven, just as Ethan entered the kitchen.
"Smells good." he remarked as he walked over to her, pressing a fond kiss to the side of her head. "Naveen just came."
The couple had invited Naveen over for dinner to formally ask him to be their officiant, and frankly, the both of them were actually nervous.
"So, how are we gonna ask him?" Blue asked.
"We bring up the wedding being so close from now and steer from there?" Ethan suggested. "We can ask together."
With a determined nod, the both of them brought out the food for dinner, settling down at the table with Naveen.
"It's been a long time since I had home-cooked dinner." Naveen said with a chuckle. "The last time was probably at your engagement party when both your mothers cooked all those declicious food. Adriana has definitely passed down her cooking skills to you, Blue."
Blue smiled in response before exchanging a glance with Ethan. Since they were already on the topic of their engagement, they both knew this was the right time for them to ask. With a nod to her, Ethan spoke.
"Speaking of our wedding..." he trailed a little unsurely. "Blue and I actually... we wanted to... ask you something."
"A favour, to be exact." Blue added as they watched Naveen knit his eyebrows together in confusion.
"Okay... why do you both seem so nervous?" he asked, being the diagnostician that he was, running all the different possibilities in his head. "Are you two planning to elope and you want me to keep it a secret? Are you having a baby?"
"What? No!" Ethan immediately responded, rolling his eyes when his mentor started laughing.
"No eloping. And we're definitely not having a baby." Blue chuckled along.
"Not now at least." Ethan added, causing both Blue and Naveen to smile. "Trust me, you'll be one of the first few to know when that is to happen."
"You are one of the most important person in both of our lives..." Blue started. "You were the first one to know about our relationship even before either of us did, and have done everything you can for us to be happy like we are now."
"And to thank you for that, and also to get a step higher of a blessing from you, we want you to officiate our wedding." Ethan told him.
Naveen was stunned for a second, letting both of their words sink for a solid one minute. It was one think to see his mentee finally about to marry the love of his life after many years of pushing everyone away, but it was an entirely different thing to have both of them asking him to carry out their matrimonial ceremony.
To him, that was nothing more than an absolute honor to be asked to do so.
"It would be my utmost pleasure, you two..." he answered after a long moment, a geniune big smile spreading across his face. "I don't even know what to say... I feel honored to be asked this from the two of you."
"Trust us, it's the other way around." Ethan told him with a smile, glancing at Blue who agreed with him, nodding.
"It's a little bit of a process for you to be ordained, but it will mean a lot for us that you'd be the one to conduct our ceremony." Blue added.
